Nothing new, but this was in a subscription article by David Aldridge:

The Rockets know Cuttino Mobley will get some interest in free agency, but they're confident they can re-sign him: they can offer 108 percent of the league average (around $3.5 million) in the first year of a deal, which will be more than the mid-level exception ($2.25 million) other teams might throw at him.

Aldridge should do the world a favor and become one of those monks that take a vow of silence...

"You couldn't have stuck a pin up his @#! with a jackhammer. Yeah, I'd say he was pretty tight." -- Barkley on Pheonix Sun Chris Carr(...I think) after he missed a game winning free-throw.

I'm not as cynical about Aldridge as many of the Rocket fans are. Sure he blew are chance at Stoudamire which we truly needed at the time. However if you look at his track record he has been correct more times than not and has not pulled an Aldridge in some time(an aldridge is declaring a trade completed and confirmed completed before it actually is). As a matter of fact that might be his only aldridge ever pulled. Regardless I take the news about Mobely as good news. Aldridge has been fairly reliable in the past few years. He doesn't make up his own rumors usually as the Peter Vescey's and Peter Gammons of the world have been known to do.
