Rowling outs Hogwarts character By HILLEL ITALIE, AP National Writer 1 hour, 28 minutes ago NEW YORK - Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall. ADVERTISEMENT After reading briefly from the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," she took questions from audience members. She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love." "Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause. She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down." Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy." "Oh, my god," Rowling concluded with a laugh, "the fan fiction." Potter readers on fan sites and elsewhere on the Internet have speculated on the sexuality of Dumbledore, noting that he has no close relationship with women and a mysterious, troubled past. And explicit scenes with Dumbledore already have appeared in fan fiction. Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," she spotted a reference in the script to a girl who once was of interest to Dumbledore. A note was duly passed to director David Yates, revealing the truth about her character. Rowling, finishing a brief "Open Book Tour" of the United States, her first tour here since 2000, also said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority." Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason.
I don't even know who Albus Dumbledore is. I know Harry Potter. I know that there is that chick also. Other than that, I have no clue.
Yeah except you couldnt tell that in the movie, cuz they did a horrible job in developing the Transformer characters......still disappointed about that movie
you know when you saw the high school scene in Transformers, it looked like a Abricrombe and Fitch ad. I didn't like that the autobots were made from GM factories. Jazz= Porsche not Pontiac.
Development of Transformers characters? Like... uh... How Optimus Prime was abandoned by his father and his mother drank and took it out on him... leaving him bitter and unable to commit to a long term relationship...
i guess you didnt watch the cartoons...It was always more about the Transformers, not so much about spike and the chick he wants to bang. I realize they were in the cartoons also, but cmon...did anyone even care that jazz died? It was a quick death too. you couldve blinked and missed it... Starscream as well as most of the D-cons get next to no character development.....they couldve shown some past history or flashbacks and left some of that other junk out. Character development makes a movie or book great. I mean, what if the movie Rocky or Star Wars, had no character devolopment...nobody would care The movie was decent, but it couldve been much, much better. I dont wanna make this into a transformers thread
I watched the cartoons, but I haven't seen the movie... I decided to live in the past when I found out Bay was involved.
Me too, and she was HOT! <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2B3ciBXGu0k"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2B3ciBXGu0k" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
They could've cut out the whole sub-plot involving Anthony Anderson for more character development/flashbacks to Cybertron.
I mean this with all sincerity: When I saw the sport played in Potter, I gave up watching fantasy. I like the games, but that was that moronic sport in the first harry potter movie was even stupider than the dumbass soccer in a ball game in FF X. They were just stupid. However, FF had gained a fanbase, whereas Potter did not. Had JK Rowling even met with some men on sport? She could dould've doubled her attainabilty. That said, I've yet to watch any of the LOTR because of that r****ded suggestion that I'd like it.
