.... debuts tonight (Monday -- MLK holiday) at 10 PM ET on MSNBC. Keyes is a black conservative with two failed (very failed) runs at the presidency. He is articulate and stimulating. I don't know anything about his format, but I would encourage you all to check him out. Remember, he is conservative! He pulls few punches. You've been warned!
I really like Alan Keyes. He is very sharp and his points are very well articulated and I like his ideals. During some of the debates, he truly did have the best showing of both democrats and republicans. He seems a bit arrogant at times and seems to think his opinion is the only correct one. I think George Bush is going to be a good president because he has a great supporting cast in many different areas around him. The job of the president is to carry out the actions of those he represents, not push his own personal opinion of what the country should be. Though I agree with most of what Keyes says, I don't feel those ideals should be pushed if not the dominant view.
I've seen enough of him as a guest on numerous talk shows to know that I'll be watching something else tonight.
Jeff, RM95: This could have been a turning point for you... too bad! Who knows maybe his first gues will be Jesse Jackson? You wouldn't want to miss that would you?
It is a turning point for me - away from the television. For the record, I don't like Jesse Jackson either. Maybe, someday, I'll have a more evolved sensibility like yourself. Until then, I guess I'll just wallow in my own liberal sissification. Sigh.
Alan Keyes is a mean, homophobic son of a b**** and I'm very disappointed MSNBC is giving him a forum to spew his rhetoric.
I am gonna have to agree with outlaw. Keyes is a fanatic. If he had won the presidency, he would have ended biotech research and pushed back gains for gay and lesbians 20 years. While I respect his religious views, he is not the person to lead this country. I will be watching something else.
Jeff, All you need to evolve to the next level is a bunch of cash. Once you get a certain level of dough, and see how the government wants you to give it to them, or to some poor slob who doesn't work half as hard as you do, then you will come to the light. "Greed is good" DaDakota
Do you think I'm poor? I guess you assume that I'm able to live in a nice house in the middle of an expensive neighborhood, drive a new truck and feed and care for 16 stray cats, while posting during most of the day, by living off of the kindness of strangers or welfare. You might be wrong.
My sources tell me that Jeff makes a living (and a very good one evidently!) smuggling cigarettes. I won't say how or where for I enjoy his contributions here. Anybody watch Keyes? I thought it a pretty good debut show. The topic was Military Tribunals. He had two expert guests. He had a segment with "citizen" guests and he had his own face time. He grins like the Cheshire Cat... Tonight he will have as his guest James Dobson, Founder of Focus on the Family.
Alan Keyes makes sense? Well, not exactly..... I guess it all depends on what your definition of "sense" is!
Why does race enter into everything? Why not just say he's a conservative? I'm not slamming Rich---just asking why that's done...
gb: C'mon! That he is black and a conservative is hugely important because a lot of people want to believe that, by definitiion, blacks cannot be conservative. This is topsy-turvy time for them! Notice that I didn't ID the race of any of the other 5 guests? Interesting, though, because none of them was black or Asian or Hispanic either! I guess old Alan doesn't pay homage (or is it protection?) to the Political Correctness Police. outlaw: Exactly what makes Keyes a homophobe?
Exactly? He's against anything and everything to do with homosexuality. He opposes any discussion of it in schools. He equates acceptance of homosexuality with the acceptance of pedophilia. He believes gay marriage will be the downfall of our society. He even believes AIDS is a moral punishment from god. I don't know if you share these views RR but I think homophobe is a fair and accurate label for Mr. Keyes.
Surely Outlaw you see the Irony in you not wanting Him to speak, yet being outraged when Homosexuals' rights are infringed upon. Like I said, though I may agree with some things that he states, I don't feel he would be a good leader because a leader needs to represent a majority of those who he represents, and I don't see Keyes doing that.
I don't see any irony at all. I'm NOT advocating the government prevent him from having a show. MSNBC has lost me as a viewer as a result of it however. That is my right as a consumer.
