Saw a couple of different Maverick fans on another site saying they heard this about Alan Henderson on their sports radio station. "According to the Ticket, there is an understanding that Hendu will be released and assuming he clears waivers will then sign with the Mavs. " I know alot of Mav fans who like the toughness Henderson brings to their team, so I rather he not end up back in Dallas. Anyone know the chances of this happening? Also, is their any way the Rockets could pick him up for help at the 4, or is he even worth it?
He is making a little over $8.2M this season and he will be a free agent this summer. If any team picks him off waivers they will be liable for the remaining roughly $2M-$3M left for this season. Now would I gamble what he brings and release Vin Baker in his place? Yeah I would do it but I must confess it is not as easy as that. For what it is worth, we could creat a roster spot for him by realeasing Andre Barret or waiving (buying out) Baker. Hendu is definitely an upgrade over Spoon and Vin Baker.
I was under the assumption that Milwaukee was going to buy him out...thus he could be resigned for the 400K vet minimum. I could be wrong, though.
he's going to the mavs, according to 1310 (the tickets) as mentioned above, and i heard it on 103.3 espn also. bucks just wanted the cap space for redd, and the mavs couldn't go without getting their names in on a trade.
Mavs just can't have him that easily. Alan Henderson must first pass throw the waver wire before he can sign as a free agent. I believe every and any NBA teach can stick a claim to him. I just wonder why we cannot waive Baker and pick up Henderson. It must not be as easy as it seems or maybe CD has gone off to Bahamas to celebrate ditching Motay and landing Lebron James.......ooops Mike James aka MJ.
There's only one year left on Baker's contract, so he's trade vaule will be way up after the summer, Rockets can use him as a trade bit to get someone decent.
Living in Fort Worth and seeing Alan Henderson play this year, I think it will be excellent if we could pick him up this year. He will give you very solid 10-18 minutes from bench. He is a good defensive player and rarely make mistakes on the court. I'll be thrilled if we could steal him from Mavs.
I would rather have a healthy, sober Vin Baker than a 100% Alan Henderson. Of course, there is the question of whether we will ever get a healthy, sober Vin Baker but I would rather take a chance on the 6'11" guy that can play both PF and C than a less talented workhorse that would probably bring the same game as Spoon.
