I just read on espn that 2 teams have offered him 5 yr deals...and 2 more offers are expected to come in. The Blue Jays are supposedly one....not sure of the others. I wonder if this guy is on our radar or if we have put starting pitching on the back burner. I think this guy would be a good fit...especially if Rocket doesn't come back. Thoughts?
I really didn't like how he finished the year, nor did I like the comments he made about the organization while he was still a player on the team.
Here is my issue with Clemens. If he isnt going to come back, it would help us tremendously so that we could move forward with our plans. If Roger retires, Burnett would be a great pickup, imo. Otherwise, we need to spend what we have left on a bat.
0-6 down the stretch, bad mouthed the organization, career record of 49-50, and it will take atleast 5 years, $50 million to get him. There's probably only 4 or 5 guys in baseball who have better raw stuff than Burnett, but I will pass.
$10 million dollar arm, ten-cent head. And this was pre-Tommy John surgery. Doctors also said that if his mechanics don't improve, he might ruin his elbow AGAIN.
Run away. Far, far away. Just for sh*ts and giggles I looked up Wade Miller stats last year: 4.95 ERA end the the season on 60 day DL
thing about burnett so-called trashing the organization, they were the ones who openly shopped him before the trade deadline and all but put him in an orioles uni. can't blame him entirely on that. he would be a good addition for about $7-8 mil. a year, but not at his asking rate. especially if he has injury issues, no way in hell do you sign him.
Why would we want A.J Burnett? He's oft-injured and even when healthy is not that good. Remember how we lit him up last year? Now Beckett on the other hand, i'll be glad to take him.
