Dammit...I had searched for a flight to Lexington, Kentucky yesterday for early October. Found a Delta rate of $148. I wasn't 100% sure I could take the time off then and happened to check again today...the fare has DOUBLED!! DAMMIT!! I've tried Travelocity, Expedia and the other sites with the same results. I'm so freakin' pissed. os
If you buy your tickets as one ways, you can get internet specials on southwest airlines which will greatly decrease your fare. For instance, when I went to LA: Continental = $468 Southwest: Book one way from HOU to AUS and from AUS to LAX. Then book one ways for the return...from LAX to El Paso and El Paso to HOU. It came out to around $270. For your current situation you can buy internet special one ways from HOU to Louisville and back for $99 each way. See if you can book 4 one ways...with a random stop each way and see if the fare goes down. Good luck.
Ref, I found close to the same deal flying into Nashville (I have friends I can see there)...close to $200. I still can't believe the fares double from yesterday...I was shocked. It's not as if I've passed the 14 day mark. os
I understand your frustration. Since I married into a family that is spread out all over I have flown more than I ever had before. The airline industry just sucks in their pricing decisions. Just tell me the bloody price the first time. But $200 isn't as bad as $300. If I can think of anything else I'll post it.
OS - I thought you were posting that your fare doubled because you were too heavy! I actually had a flight double on me before, I waited too long and the american west website took the flight off promotion and the price doubled!
I found the cheap fares yesterday on Delta...they went up and Continental actually dropped down to $221 from about $330 I think. I don't get it. os
Airfare is like playing the stock market. When we were flying from MN to TX a few weeks ago, I looked at the fares everyday. I finally found $213 round trip. I bought them. The next day they more than doubled to around $450. A couple of days later they were back to $283. They never did get back down to $213.
old school.. where did you find the 200 deal.. i go to vanderbilt in nashville and will be booking some flights back to houston for the holidays soon...
