Once you get over a certain size, you should have to take a boat to travel.

This is also done on other carriers when a flight isn't full.

I absolutely REFUSE to be herded by Southwest. The poor saps who stand in the A, B and C lines make me laugh. For all domestic flights, I ask the gate agents the time the doors will close and chill out until then. I board at the very last moment.

Sat between two morbidly obese people for a flight to New York one time. Wanted to die.

i pretty much do that on all flights. the least amount of time on the plane the better.

"let me rush onto this plane that i'm spending 2-12 hours on"

You should have purposely dug your elbows into them the whole flight.

This is of course assuming they weren't sweaty / greasy.

I would have asked for a refund and caused a scene. Not because I am a rude, but because I am a prick and I will not justify sitting between two fat asses on 3-4 hour flight (assuming you flew from Houston).

as long as you don't have to look for bin space...this is the best thing to do.
but most people refuse to check in bags and carry oversized items onboard.

I also wait till the last minute especially if I have an assigned seat.

This came up in another flying thread. I also don't understand the rush to get into a closed confined space that I'm going to be spending the next 3 hours on. Especially with assigned seating (I fly United exclusively). I don't even stand in line to board. Just sit down until the line goes down, then calmly board the plane and find my seat.

I also don't understand why everyone is so quick to stand up as soon as the plane lands and the seatbelt light goes off. So you can stand in place for the next 15 minutes while everyone in front of you gets off? I'd rather just sit and chill until the people 4 or 5 rows ahead of me move, then calmly retrieve my carry-on and walk off the plane.

For Southwest, I like to get on quickly because I want to guarantee a window seat. I'm like a kid when it comes to that. If it's assigned seating different story - no rush.

    This.

I routinely stay seated till its time for my row to leave... I find it comical that the people behind me (who've been standing aimlessly like blind sheep) try to push their way and get out in front of me... and actually get upset when I stop them to say our row is going first.

Its as if them standing all that time made them feel like they earned it or something.

I do feel that they should make some sort of priority exit system for people with close-call connections. As if the airlines/TSA don't know every single piece of information about those traveling now... have a system where those with a close connection are selected to de-plane first (and even have some sort of scanning system on their tickets/phones so that people just don't randomly try to jump the line and get off first).

For long flights, I actually like to get on early because I like to make sure i have storage space and I like to get situated (water, headphones, magazines, etc).

But I absolutely don't understand people leaping out of their seats immediately as the light comes on. It's worse when someone from behind you comes and stands right by you with their ass and/or bag in your face (if you're on the aisle)

This. I'm also a window seat guy. I enjoy laying my flight pillow by the window and I just pass right out once the earphones are in and the music starts playing. I'm usually woken by the flight attendant after half of the passengers have departed. I hate middle row and have no need for isle.

They should start charging people by weight.

Agreed. I occasionally have to visit NJ for work and will fly into Philly. If there's a connector/layover its usually in Atlanta. I once had 15 minutes to get off a plane, navigate through the world's busiest and (largest?) airport, print my boarding pass then finally board the plane.

To this day I'm still not sure how I pulled that off.

So the avg female today is the same weight as the avg male from 1960? No way. 166 lbs is small for a man, but awful for a woman.

She would be so much hotter if she lost weight.

You would find it hilarious especially in a lot of Asian and especially South Asian countries. As soon as the plane lands people are already getting up to get their bags from the overhead bins. The plane hasn't even finished decelerating and folks are already up and ready to get out. I mean they might save a grand total of 30 seconds by doing this, because they still have to wait for others to get off the plane in addition to waiting at baggage claim. Always cracks me up when I'm flying those regional airlines.
