http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/view.bg?articleid=93466 sounds like ainge dont want him going anywhere.. so now what? i hope swift comes here... F$#&!!!!!!
didnt he say they werent trading him right before they um.... traded him? i love ainge (celtic fan), but hes wasnt cut out for the GM role. all hes done is drafted as many high school kids as possible and little in the way of known commodities. hell, he even took back one of his moves in getting back walker.
As for whether he'd be amenable if Bartelstein or another club approaches him with a reasonable proposal, Ainge said, ``A sign-and-trade has to make sense for us. That's all. It has to be a good deal for us.'' ........meaning, "Soooo who wants to pay Raef LaFrentz $10M+ a year?!"
Walker will not be a Celtic, title is kinda misleading. The article was posted earlier (not sure what thread) and all it says is that Ainge has never heard of these S&T proposals that had supposedly been offered. And if Ainge is denying a S&T possibilty, its really no problem, Walker will just have to settle for MLE type money, which is what he was going to get anyways, S&T or not.
Walker is worth well more than the MLE on the open market. But on the rox, he's worth 5M, tops. We need a role player, not someone who will dominate the ball. His talent isn't that important to us. We need good value players, not another big contract.
Walker won't be wearing Celtic Green next season. Ainge is obviously trying to boost his value by saying he's not on the market, but w/ all the trouble they're already having w/ Pierce, I don't see them giving Walker enough incentive to return. I don't see who would believe Ainge anyways, he's had one of the more weird GM careers so far. I don't know how many GMs have traded an All-Star, bad mouthed him, and then traded back for him the next season.
swift seems to be considering only signing with houston or NY. i think walker will sign where ever swift doesn't.
Fly so swift the rain won't lift The gate won't close the railings froze Get your mind on winter time you ain't going nowhere Ooh we ride me high tomorrows the day my brides gonna come Oh oh are we gonna fly down in the easy chair I don't care how many letters they sent The morning came the morning went Pack up your money pick up your tent you ain't going nowhere Ooh we ride me high tomorrows the day my brides gonna come Oh oh are we gonna fly down in the easy chair
I hope that's the case since I think he'd pick us over the Knicks. I still have a feeling that a team like ATL or New Orleans is gonna sweep in and make things complicated. Also, I wonder if he has any interest in NJ. He is a very simliar player to K-Mart (play wise) and playing w/ Kidd, Carter, RJ would be interesting.
Walker is a Unrestricted Free Agent...meaning he can sign anywhere. The title of this thread is misleading. "Ainge said walker aint goint anywhere" Ainge doesn't have a say if walker leaves for another team. Ainge can help walker get more money with a sign and trade, but it has to benifit the Celtics in someway. They are not just gona sign walker and trade him for mess, bad contacts, etc.... A team will either have to take on a bad contact of theirs....Raef Lafrenez or get a player in return they want and can use.
