Rumors about Aikman's return were inevitable with Parcell’s fondness of veteran QB’s. As much as I hate the Cowboys I wouldn’t mind him returning. I don’t think he was a great as everyone makes him out to be (many drunken arguments with friends) but I do respect him and think a return would be interesting. Here is a link to the ESPN report http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2003/0114/1492808.html And a link to his marginal career stats if anyone is interested http://football.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?statsId=615
No way Aikman returns unless Jerry clones the Cowboy O-line of the mid 90's. With the current O-line Aikman wouldn't last a game.
I actually like him in the FOX three man booth with Buck and Collinsworth. He would be missed as a commentator. I wonder what changed his mind? I remember him stating emphatically that he wouldn't consider coming back, even if Parcells asked him to, on "PTI" and during a game a few weeks ago.
As much as I liked Aikman I'd hate to see him die on the field considering the Cowboys are so far away from being a contender, and the O line stinks.
He wasn't all that good when he left. They need to move forward. He'd make a nice backup at this point.
