Iverson's got 29 at the halfway mark. If they don't pull him in the 4th (they're up 18) he might go for 50+
Any Rockets fans who still miss Steve Francis should take a look at Steve right now, laughing, taunting, and pointing at Sixer fans in the front row after throwing down a dunk that brought the Magic to within 17.
is christie even playing? i've only watched since the middle of the 3rd, but i haven't seen him in at all. really, jameer is the only with any sort of chance to stay with him. francis doesn't have the lateral quickness and christie doesn't either. cuttino did well against him for us. maybe they should put cuttino on iver....
Does it surprise anyone that Francis was on the receiving end of both of Iverson's 58 (and counting) point barrages?
Stevie's actually having a pretty good game himself. 32 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists and even 3 steals. On the other hand, he has 7 turnovers.
AI is the best offensive talent in the NBA hands down. He carries this horrible sixers team and is consistenly tripled team. His fg aint the greatest but is shouldn't matter when no one on your team is good.
Then tell me why all he was able to show was pure heart + bricks after bricks in international competition.
lol, i was thinking the same thing but did francis ever guard iverson tonight? i know they're both point guards but i never saw francis on iverson in the quarter and a half i watched. and cuttino was guarding him on the 58 point night (and the two horrible shooting, low point total nights the next season). 60, 6, and 6 is just such a crazy stat line.
who knows, but dwyane wade couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in the olympics and now shoots like 46 or 47%, lebron couldn't either and is shooting 49%. the olympics just weren't our thing this time around. so many guys on that team have taken huge steps up this season so it's not like they suck but for some reason absolutely none of them could shoot for those few weeks, no matter how open they were. even stoudemire and okafur, two guys who barely played are having better than projected seasons. must've been something in the gatorade.
Iverson's overrated. Congrats to him for having an amazing scoring night but for someone considered a superstar by so many in the media he hasn't done jack in his entire career. Blame his teammates or lack there of but Duncan and KG didn't have much of a team until these past few years yet somehow managed to keep their team over .500 in the West. And atleast Duncan managed to get a couple of rings all the while people love to bring up Iverson's only success where his team went to the finals. I personally am always amazed how much the media loves Iverson when they typically hold a "What have you done for me lately?" attitude with most everyone else. And what exactly has he done lately? Jack to help his team advance in the East. And as much as the franchise has focused on him these past few years I'm amazed they still haven't tried to pull a move to deal him considering his FG % and the fact that he can only help his team on one side of the court. Only occasionally when he can't miss does is he unstoppable which is rare. Otherwise he's just another guy whose is jacking up 30 shots a game while shoot under 40%. Tonight was just one of those nights he couldn't miss, but otherwise I've never really been impressed with his game. Also asmuch as people love to mention his high steals per game, it's mainly off constant gambling where more often than not he leaves his man open to score only to occasionally have his gamble pay off. I'll take constant seal off defense over risky gambling to an open basket anyday.
Duncan and KG are both 6' 11" ---- Iverson is 5' 11" KG couldn't get out of the 1st round until he had Sam and Spree --- Iverson took his team to the finals. Duncan has always had a much better supporting cast including David Robinson. Has AI had any of the NBA's 50 greatest as a teammate? AI is a great player ---- top 5 in the NBA right now and a future HOFer.
