Marbury and D'Antoni met in the lobby of the team hotel here for 10 minutes when the Knicks coach informed him before the game against the Sixers. FOLLOW KNICKS-SIXERS HERE Marbury told reporters it was the "coach's decision and I'm fine with it." Earlier in the day, Marbury told The Post he just wants to play basketball, preferably in New York, but will not ask for his release. The Knicks will have to come to him, and Marbury swears that has not happened. "I'm a free agent, too," Marbury told The Post about his status after the season. "I got to get on the floor and show what I can do. I still want to play basketball here. I still love the fans. I want to play basketball and I want to win a championship. If it's not to be that way, there's nothing I can do." According to an NBA source, if the Knicks and Marbury part ways, the Nuggets and Miami have the most interest. Marbury spent a lot of time this summer with Nuggets assistant coach Tim Gruich, working out with him informally in Los Angeles. Despite denials, Pat Riley would love to add Marbury, too. Recent signee Shaun Livingston hasn't solved the Heat's guard woes. D'Antoni deceived Marbury into thinking he'd be part of things when he played him 20 minutes a game during preseason. "They told me I had a fresh start," Marbury said. Now D'Antoni couldn't have made clearer he has no plans to get Marbury in the lineup any time soon and doesn't think it's appropriate to have him in uniform. Marbury did not play in the season opener Wednesday. D'Antoni wants to see Marbury waived, but team president Donnie Walsh, who convinced D'Antoni to bring Marbury to training camp, still isn't ready to do that. "There's not a big enough piece for him so I don't want to play him," D'Antoni said. "We're going in a different direction."
I haven't heard anything on this recently, but I would be absolutely floored if the Nugs tried to bring that jackass in.
AI and Wade...the two players who have similar skillsets to Marbury (when he was good) It's like when the Knicks traded for Francis. It just doesn't make sense
AI, Melo, and Starbury? Haha, talk about a dysfunctional family. I think Wade and Riley have a better change of getting Marbury to do some good. But I think Riley is getting senile. And that's fine with me.
wouldnt be suprised if he goes to the warriors, harrington wants out but they need to dish another 10 mill for a trade unless hes bought out
hahaha, there would not be enough ball to play the game even with 3 balls on the court at the same time.
