This guy is an absolute monster!!! Some have compared this guy to Ray Lewis and Lavar Arrington and is a surefire top 5 pick in next years draft. I'm not sure how the supplemental draft works out but don't we get the first pick? If we get him, this would certainly be one of the best if not the best offseason yet!

Looks like character issues waiting to happen.

There is no doubt that Ahmad Brooks has talent. But unfortunately along with that talent comes an injury history and character issues. I would be willing to take a chance on Brooks in the 4th round (possibly as early as the 3rd round) in the supplemental draft, but I think that some team may take a chance on him in the 2nd.

    What character issues? Aggression? Anger?

Good, that's what football is anyways...heck, we need someone on the Rockets like that.

Football is good therapy for him...

Brooks wasn't that good last year and had some injuries. He would have been a late first this year IMO. I wouldn't use nothing but a 3rd round pick.

I was going to post this. The guy is a monster. He's a risk but he could be a huge steal. Last year wasn't great for him but he has all the talent in the world. I'd use a #2 on him.

I don't know if I'd go that far. From what is being said about him, he's overweight, checking in upwards of 270lbs right now. Some have also stated that if he were in this draft he may project as a 3rd rounder.

Then let's get his lazy ass in shape. As a Soph he was projected in the top 5. Last year was sub par due to a lot of things but I'm pretty sure someone will take a shot at this kid (especially with a late #2). If Clarett got a chance in the 4th then this kid is certainly worth a 2-3.

There is no doubt he has talent, but what worries me more than the character issues is his injury history. Knee and back problems are not good for you and me, much less someone you are expecting to be your starting middle linebacker. Combine that with his weight problem and he could end up getting cut just like Maurice Clarett too! Except at the expense of a 2nd round pick. No more Tony Hollings situations for me. Also, he could just as easily fall to the 4th or 5th round of the supplemental draft as well. I wouldn't feel as bad about giving up a 5th for him as I would giving up a 2nd.

I'm not sure I am interested in someone that has had injury problems.

would the supplemental draft be this years picks or next years? we have 2 3rd rounders this year, and no LB on the board in the 3rd round will have this guy's skills.

    why not?

What ever round a player is selected in during the supplemental draft the team that drafts the player forfits their pick in that round the following draft. If the Texans selected him in the 5th round of the supplemental draft they would lose their 5th round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

The last time we used a 2nd rounder in the supplemental resulted in the Tony Hollings experiment.

Why shouldn't we use a first round supplemental pick on this guy? He's a first round prospect (Top Ten by most scouts) in next years draft. It would be nice to be drafting in the top ten again next year but I'm hoping we don't suck that bad again this year. Say we make the playoffs this year, we'll be drafting in the late teens or twenties and I don't think we could find a talent of this guys caliber that late in the first round next year. This guys talent is legit. He's been compared to Ray Lewis or Lavar Arrington by professional scouts. His size alone is intimadating. Let him get back to his old form and play sparingly while Cowart rides out his year contract and unleash Brooks next year or late in the season.

I'm not going to judge him yet because I don't know why he got kicked off the team but if this guy has an attitude problem and if there is a place in the NFL for the likes of the T.O.'s of this world than surely the Texans could find a willing team or a sucker to trade for him. If the Texans don't like his attitude or decides he doesn't want to play for the Texans anymore they can still receive something of value in return. Or better yet we haven't seen how the coaching staff deals with players like him, but if they can somehow direct his "attitude" on the playing field instead of being a distraction off of it than I'd say we have a coaching staff that is well rounded and doesn't take any bull from any player no matter who they are.

Anyhow, this guy to me seems like he's willing to put in the work because when he got injured this past year he decided to forgo the draft and millions of dollars but instead wanted to go back to school and get back to the level he was at before. Most underclassmen decide the time is right to enter the draft early when it really isn't just so they can get paid instead of going back to refine their skills. So that to me should tell us something about his determination.

And I know, I know everybody is mentioning the Tony Hollings bust or Milford Brown (wasn't he a supplemental pick as well?), however, they were not rated to go anywhere in the top 5 much less the top ten in any nfl draft year. This guy is a legit talent and once he gets back into shape I would be willing to take a chance on him before any other team does.

Lastly people are mentioning that he's injury prone, or more likely to get injured again, but if he checks out well from his past injury why not give him a shot? Any player we draft is succeptible to injuries so why should he be any different??????????????????????

He WAS a first round pick if he'd come out last year.

exactly. Players aren't worth a 1st day pick if they have huge injury and character issues.

Even if he was projected as a top 5 player at one point, even top 5 players bust. Just so happens he busted before he had a chance to get an NFL paycheck.

You need to do some research. He has had several icidents with the law and not to mention the reason forhim being in thesupp draft ishe got kicked of his team. Throw inhis serious injury history with his added weight and I wouldnt give anything under a 5th rounder for him.
