i'm sure this has been done before, but what hasn't?

anyway, i was talking with a coworker a few minutes ago about something and somehow or another the 80s popped up. some of the highlights we talked about were...

    breakin 2: electric boogaloo
    skateboarding (vision street wear)
    hammer pants (skidz)
iron on shirts (i remember ironing on a gizmo sticker thingee to a tshirt)
    thundercats/transformers/m.a.s.k.
    mr rogers
    koosh balls
    degrassi junior high
    toni basil- mickey
    m.u.s.c.l.e. men
    the birth of the nes

we went on and on and on.

sigh... depressing stuff. i'm getting old (24 now).

soooo... what are some of your favorite things from the eighties... movies, toys, games, music, clothing, etc.

make me even more depressed. :(

by the way... check out this site. i'm sure that you've seen it before. it has tons of stuff about the 80s:

    x-entertainment

here's a link from within the site also about skeletor's minions!

    minions

man... i totally forgot about trapjaw!

    How I spent the 80's:

    TMNT
    MTV
    Ghostbusters
    Friday the 13th
    A Nightmare on Elm Street
    DuckTales
    Gremlins
    Old School Nickelodeon
    Masters of the Universe
    Nintendo
Staying up to watch Tales From the Darkside and some Sid & Marty Croft puppet show after the classic late 80's SNL

...ducktales.... oooooOOOO! that song was cool. :D
double dare and scott summers was the bomb.
the opening theme music to tales from the darkside really freaked me out (seriously)... so i never watched it.

I was more afraid of the photo negative visuals in the opening. :)

The show wasn't all that scary. One episode had this woman with special "diet glasses" that made her see her food talking to her. Funnier then it sounds. ;)

Scariest one had to be where this lab genetically engineers superintelligent rats... or that could've been on the similar show, "Monsters."

    Another 80's toy: Army Ants!!!

"Blade Runner" in 1982 was a high point. My wife and I moved to Austin in 1980. There must be some other things from the '80's that I'm forgetting, or trying to (like the ******/**** administrations ;) ), but I can't think of anything else right now. Maybe later.

God, some of you make me feel old. It's not your fault... it's just the years. I wish I had a lot of them back. There is one thing I can say without reservation, however. I had one hell of a lot more fun in the '50's, '60's and '70's.

In the '50's I was a kid growing up in a era where everyone knew their neighbors, left their doors unlocked and I played like a maniac (and had more fun than a kid should be allowed to have).

In the '60's and '70's I partied like a maniac and had more fun than a human being should be allowed to have. And how I miss it...

The 80's are the most worthless decade in the second half of the twentieth century, in my opinion.

Nickelodeon was great! I loved "You Can't do that on Television" "Double Dare" and a host of others! I remember this weird show about these manequins that came to life. I have no idea what it was though.

OS-I TOTALLY got pissed at those kids! I thought that game was super easy.

I think it was more early 90's, but New Kids on the Block were so cool (if you were a girl in like 2nd grade). Shows how cool I REALLY am!

The 80's were cool in their own way. It was transitional, I guess. Into what? I don't know.

We knew all of our neighbors back in my neighborhood. The kind of people you could walk across the street to and ask to borrow an egg or a cup of sugar. Stuff like that.

I remember Transformers, MASK, G.I. Joe (I have a brother who is 2 years younger than me), Jem, Raibow Brite. Oh, and He-Man and She-Ra...they rocked. And I remember Nintendo, but also Atari. My dad had an original that I watched him play. I remember playing Pac-Man and such at the Pizza Hut down the road. I remember records too-I had a record player.

Gosh, I could go on and on...but I'll spare you all....if you're still reading that is. :)

I'm telling you, I could go on and on but this pretty much sums up what I did in the 80's.

    Atari sucks!

(Just kidding, my first computer was an Atari 400 w/ 16k of ram and a casette drive. I used to play this game called "Red Barron" and it took like, 15 minutes to load it off the tape!)
