Everyone at the bottom, except NO (and SA, who people give a benefit of doubt to) are all contenders. Though Portland, OKC, and Utah have some pretty young teams.
Huge difference between this year and the old JVG years, when he was recycling all those has-beens. Our average age was easily 30 years old and Tmac and Yao were our youngest players. We have at least two high picks in the next 3 years. Cbud and Hill as two solid rookies. A couple of young swingmen in Martin and Ariza. A young score 1st PG with uncanny ability at his size. A solid vet at PF, still under 30. The future is bright.
Ginobili is old, and could come in for us next year (don't flame me, but he would be AWESOME 6th man, and friends with Scola, and has champ experience, and plays with passion). Yeah, he's injury prone, but won't need to play major minutes because we have Martin at the 2 and Ariza/Bud can play backup 2. He's stated as saying he'll be open to being a FA this summer. He's got the experience we need (championship wise), and he's a contract we can work to trade if he doesn't live up to expectations of remaining healthy. WIth minimal minutes, and the opportunity to play with Luis, I think we've got an opportunity to sign him for less than the average team. I'd go as far as an MLE for 3 years. I'm sure he's got that much time left. At that rate, we can probably flip him in his last season if he gets too old/injury prone. So here's the proposed lineup: Brooks/Lowry Martin/Ginobili/Bud/Taylor Ariza/Shane/Bud Scola/Jeffries/Hill/Armstrong Yao/Scola/Jeffries/Hill/Armstrong The only problem is who's finishing the 4th quarter? Ginobili is tall enough to play the SF on the offensive side, but is he good enough to play the defensive side (better than Ariza/Shane)? Just something I wanted to get out. Thanks for listening.
Perfect, average age of 26 means we're old enough to know how to win amd young enough to have youth and energy to do it.
