    Hey Guys,

After we use up the LLE are we unable to get any other players on the roster any other way besides a sign and trade?

We have more players than Roster Spots now.

Can we intentionally exceed the salary cap to sign a specific player?

After that you just have veterans/rookie minimums - which I am not sure what they start at.

As far as not enough roster spots, you can cut/release people (but pay their salary).

    Yes.

It is a soft salary cap ($49.5 million - which were already over), but the real concern is the luxury tax threshold which is $61.7 million.

Why would there be a cap then? If we could "intentionally" exceed it.

Woudn't Shaq be a Maverick if Cuban could "intentionally" exceed the cap?

    Maybe I'm missing something...

after reading Doc's post, I don't think we are going to use the LLE. instead we are going the 2-for-1 trade route.

Can y'all agree? Which one is it? I tend to agree with Rocketball else how would so many teams be over the cap? I think the $ for $ luxury tax is the real stopper, even for Cuban.

What I'm trying to find out is whether it is Les' fault we WON'T spend the money or the cap's fault the Rox CAN'T spend the money. He has one of the most profitable (and valuable) franchises in the NBA so maybe he figures he doesn't have to spend the money. He'll do just enough to keep us interested and pacified.

you can not freely sign anyone with any contract you like if you have exceeded the salary cap. the only tool you can use in this instance is MLE, LLE, and veteran/rookie minimums.

Does this also hold true if you are under the cap and take on someone who puts us well over the cap.

ps. How does Finley get 50mil over the cap.
