If JVG gets fired, how long will you give the new coach? I mean at which point do you want to replace him? His hypothetical stats: after 10 games: 4-6 after 20 games: 9-11 after 30 games: 15-15 after 40 games: 22-18 Options: 1) 10 games 2) 20 games 3) 30 games 4) 40 games 5) till end of the season.
Sorry. If JVG gets fired tommorrow morning. We get a new coach who will hypothetical have the above record. At which point would you like to fire the new coach? (assuming you want to fire the new coach)
So you're asking hypothetically if JVG gets fired, hypothetically how many games will the hypothetical new coach have to turn the team around before getting fired for another coach? That's too damn many hypotheticals for me to handle.
I think this guy's trying to make a point here. That most people on this message board have been fairly impatient with JVG and will be the same way with the next coach if he doesn't immediately turn things around.
Right. Since many here include youself is calling to have JVG fired after like 15 games, I would like to know how long you would give the new coach. If you picked 10 games. I understand why you want JVG gone. Although I don't agree with your logic. If you picked 20, 30 or more and still wants to fire JVG now, why? This is also a pretty good indication of how many on here wants JVG gone now. Does the purpose of the poll seem a little more apparent now? Just out of curiousity, what did you pick?
Thank you SirCharlesFan. My opinion had been to give JVG at least 30 games to prove himself. He had so far met my expectations. The hypothetical result I've listed is very likely our result under JVG. Many on this board wants a new coach. I wasn't exactly sure how many, and thought this poll would be a pretty good indication. For the people that wants JVG gone and didn't pick 10 games, they have to ask themselves why. Why do you want to give the new coach longer than JVG? I am really surprised at the results so far. I have expected much more 10 game votes. This can only mean one of two things: a) Most people on here is patient with JVG, like myself, and think we are coming along fine. If this is the case, man, more people has got to speak up. The board recently had been flooded with VG be gone posts. I thought I was in the minority camp. lol, apparently not. or b) Many people just don't like JVG. They are willing to give any other coach longer time, but wants JVG gone after 15 games. To me, this doesn't make too much sense.
ok. Let's say this new coach is an offensive genious. We average 107 points a game. But still has the record I've listed. Maybe he doesn't know D, or just hadn't figured it out yet. We don't really know.
Move the Rockets to Austin. I'm so sick of these fickle Houston fans that know jack about B-ball... Rockets to Austin! and about JVG... The guy is smart. He knows what he's doing. I like the weasley little b*stard...
Unless things fail to maintain at this level, JVG has this full season. However, for those who want him fired now, there is some justification which doesn't mesh with your hypothetical. It isn't "20 games," but a full season with "one of the most talented teams in NBA history" (which ended in disaster, and backing into the playoffs), and the end of his run with the Knicks. This is at least the third time this has happened. For those people, it is like being Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day," and the only way out to a lovely future with Andie McDowell is to fire Van Gundy.
Good point, and well taken. I personally feel this year is a brand new team. Plus last year he did fine IMHO.
