Man I thought I was going to miss the hell out of Austin, but I can honestly say that I am glad to be in H-town. Im close to everything inner-loop and feel the vibe of a metropolitan city. Austin definitely has more charm, but I think I am going to like living here as a single adult after all. Worried over nothing once again..... Its nice to see girls out and about who DONT go to UT. Someone please give me advice on how to drive on the freeway! I feel like I am going to get in a wreck at any minute......
Houston rules. Welcome to Houston Drewdog, and it got appreciably better today as the ASTROS signed JEFF KENT!!!!!!!!!!! You better get some tix man
Amen to that DVauthrin! Kent is an Astro, can you smell the World Series? Astros 2003 World Series champions, 2004 Rockets NBA Finals champions, and 2005 Texans NFL Super Bowl champions! Now how sweet would that be?
There are very few native Houstonians. Just about everybody has moved here but nobody seems to leave. Houston is an easy city to live in with low taxes, many jobs, mostly nice weather and something for everybody. It isn't a picturesque city but its still a nice place to live despite what the rest of the country beleives...since they've never lived here.
The Cat line was definitely the best in a while. You guys suprise me with your wit. Hey Drew, go to Cabo and then hit richmond if you are in a really crazy mood are are with alot of friends. Otherwise hit Cabo off of praire and then hit the mercury room or the grasshopper or the flying saucer if you don't want to dance. This is where I have been going lately and I have been having good luck. And I am a loser
Just use your blinker. Sometimes you have to be a little aggressive on the freeway. In case, God forbid, you get in a wreck at least you'll have had your blinker on.
Haha! That's a good one, I've said that myself. A lot of good replies, but anyway, welcome to Houston. I remember when I wanted to move out, but that was before I started traveling frequently to other cities. I know not everyone will agree with that statement, but that's me. Side note, if you are looking for a night life (bars, clubs, etc.), let me know. I don't go "clubbing" or anything but I am involved in that "industry" and I can recommend places. Oh and if you want to check out any of the places I'm involved with, let me know and I'll put you on the guest list or what-not. Actually that goes for anyone, just send me a message or something.
krosfyah, I resent your generalization. I'm a Native Houstonian glad to be living in Austin. Good luck with the traffic, Drewdog. Just don't pop the bird at someone who cuts you off... they might be packing! I love H-town, I just don't want to live there. Jeff Kent-
Some restaurant advice: China Stix - Buffalo Speedway at Holcombe Molina's - Buffalo Speedway at Bissonet Texadelphia - Rice at Kirby I think. It's in the village. Goode Company BBQ - Kirby just past 59. Just to get you started off right.
My favorites: Pizza/Italian - Collinas - www.collinas.com Chinese Buffet: China Border at Greenspoint on 1-45 northbound feeder. Make your own Burritos: Freebirds - you'll have to make your way through all the Aggies though. Tex-Mex: Chuy's on Richmond, BerryHill on San Felipe, Chachos on Westheimer when you're in a hurry or want to drink. Entertainment: Compaq Center - ALL ROCKETS, ALL THE TIME! Sports Radio: 610 AM
Drew - plus, there's nothing like a pitcher of Shiner and a philly cheesesteak sandwich with me and Refman at Nick's...just ask RM95!! on second thought, don't ask him...but if you do and he says something bad about me, don't believe it. those pictures were completely fabricated, i swear!
Wrongo my man. Ziggy's Healthy Grill on Alabama b/t Kirby & Shepherd serves up roo, ostrich, venison, buffalo, etc... in burger form. Tried 'em all but the ostrich. Texadelphia sucks, imo. Best cheesesteak in Houston is at Jake's Philly Steaks on Chimney Rock.
