It's almost half way into the season and we are still around the 0.5 mark. Consider the kind of talents we have on paper, it's sad to say that we would need some luck to even make the playoff. The West is very tough, so even we make it to the 7th or 8th seed, it's very likely just another 1st round exit. With this in mind, do you guys think it's time to rebuild now?

    Hard to say.

We've never solved the problem at the 1 or 4. The rest (2, 3, and 5) are getting worse over time (especially our starting 2 and 3).

Good question... I do think the reality is starting to set in a bit. We have to go 30-13 just to win 50 now.

But I don't think anything drastic will be done midseason, outside of maybe a starting lineup move. They made a major investment in the "now" when they moved Rudy Gay, so they have to atleast complete the season. It's also Adelman's first year.

However, I do think anything short of the second round of the playoffs will mean major roster change.

Not making the playoffs is not an option in my book. I'd be willing to pull off a risky Andre Miller, Bibby or whoever deal before i'd consider throwing the towel in.

    Not at all.

It's not even the All-Star break yet and you're asking if we should rebuild.

Ok, look, I was crushed by tonight's loss but try to remember that this organization has been down this dark path before.

A team should never tank this early in the season!

I know it's hard to endure but please take some pills to alleviate this painful loss. Drink a beer and regroup.

Your optimism will soon pay off...I hope.

My "No Playoffs = Bye Bye T-Mac" thread is very similar in that it says

    1) given our mounting losses, we may not make the playoffs
    2) if not, I believe there will be changes in the offseason and T-Mac will be traded. The amount of hate I got in that thread is amazing! I guess this board is very sensitive about the mention of T-Mac lately.

i think there is enough talent - at least on paper, but not enough confidence. I like adelman as a coach and his kings was my favorite team after MJ's bulls and dream's rox. but his players now are either in the transition to get used to his system, or just completely lost in his system. the last couple games have been good ball movement and high % shots for 3 quarters, then complete meltdown in the 4th. like today, no one dare to make a play other than pounding the ball to yao even after they turned it over 4 times - i could have faked a pass and driven by my man to at least draw a foul at the basket even though i'm 30 pounds over my playing weight in college. however I agree a major change in midseason doesn't help to build confidence either.

While I agree we should wait until the All-Star game before making a "win-now trade" or a "break up the team" trade, just looking at the schedules for the teams we are competing against for the lower 4 playoff spots: Portland, Denver, Utah, Golden State, and NO. Most have very easy schedules are at least as easy as ours.

While after the Break our schedule is easier than theirs, If we are not in that pack (right now I think we need to make up 3-4 games by ASB), I'm not too sure we will be able to get there with this team. Especially is the bulb has not gone of in this Rockets team by then.

Yeah, we need to stop looking at difficulty of schedule for hope. Just being in our division guarantees difficulty of schedule; just being in the western conference does . . . Scheduling does not offer that much of an advantage or disadvantage, and schedule difficulty for different teams does not even out

I think a lot of people are underestimating the impact that T-Mac has on our team. His absence is sorely missed on a team desperately needing another alternative to just dumping it to Yao in the post. His presence in a game alone causes teams to rethink their defense and the way they defend Yao. Take into account his great passing skills and his ability to hit close to impossible shots and you're missing a major element of your offense. Sure, there were points during this season that he was just jacking up shots that failed to go in but I think that can be attributed to the fact that no one else on the team was making shots to begin with! Therefore, he felt the need to start pumping in points as a reaction to our lackluster shooting.

I see the Rockets surging upwards in the standings with the improved play of Scola, Brooks and Landry coinciding with T-Mac's return. He will be coming back to a team that is slowly but surely figuring out this overpowering offense.

I don't get your thread at all. Your saying with or without t-mac we should trade him. The guy had injuries, he was in MVP form for the first 7 -10 games, didn't see any Trade T-mac threads then. We lose two in a row without him after like a 5 game streak and we are calling for the thing to be blown up. How many games has T-mac played with Brooks, Landry and Scola playing big minutes exactly???????????????????????????????????????????????????

The three key guys in our run haven't even really played with Mac at all and we want to blow it up? Sure our wins aren't impressive, but then we beat the Wizards, who beat the Celtics, twice.......

At least rest till all star break before we make a big prediction. I think a minor trade will help out. case in point today, if Mcgrady was on the court it would at least helped defensively cover Andre Miller.

What's the problem with this team? No heart. People were hoping that the team changed but it's very clear from these last two games that the team's character hasn't changed at all. No heart. The roster's got to change. I don't know whether T-Mac has to go, (hopefully not), but some trades need to happen.

In this last game, it wasn't heart, we have no brains. We're more like the Scarecrow.

If the Rockets are not a top eight team by the trade deadline, all options should be considered.

New coach, new system, and 3 rookies getting rotation. It's going to take time.

Few trades here or there are the only things that *might* happen. No superstars are going anywhere.
