Look I was ecstatic last year with the draft. One of the depest in the last 10 years. The Rockets lucked out getting Griffin for solid players.

1 year ago they got into a weak draft and wound up getting an extra pick in the 2001 draft.

2 years ago the Rockets got Francis and Thomas.

3 years ago the rockets got Mobley.

I don't want any more draft picks. I want this team to get the killer instinct. To go out and get some veterans with that pick.

Remember the days when the Rockets were always making the playoffs as a 3 or 4 seed with 2 championships? Did you ever give a moments thought except a quick glance at a SI for draft info?

I didn't. The Rockets would trade away their 1st rounders because the core was so solid. Nothing was needed to break that up.

Yeah, I also remember them drafting Robert Horry and Sam Cassell (both first rounders). It didn't hurt that they had the best player on the planet either.

it also helped when you had a deep team of very good role players. and yea you had the best center playing for you too. i mean when they were effective, smith maxwell thorpe and even sleepy floyd were doing great. that's why we never needed to get help from the draft. even though everyone is saying that we're out of the rebuilding process, i think we still are. i mean, the only position i see that we're solid at is francis and after that is griffin. mobley is a tradeable commodity (which francis would hate) and everyone is is just a role player. we need that superstar type of play from one guy and then everyone will feed off of him a la mid 90's rockets.

We need some veteran leadership. Hopefully Rice will be able to provide that next year.

Francis also needs to take him game to another level.

The team needs to stay committed to DEFENSE!

I think these are the three main things the Rockets should concentrate on for next year.

Oh and of course hopefully we wont be nearly as injured next year as we were this year.
