Get this the Titans, one of the worst teams in the league a month ago are now tied with the Texans at 5-6 and Houston can only sit back and watch this collapse over the last 3 weeks. Man it almost makes me vomit to think the Titans are ahead now and we are at the bottom of the AFC South.
I think the issue at this point maybe MENTAL TOUGHNESS. The Texans don't have it. I think that is on the Coach. They have not BOUNCED BACK from anything they have allowed other teams to BOUNCE BACK ON THEM This is a learning process. I don't think J Fisher was the greatest coach at 1st. . he had to grow into it Some grow better than others Which is why I think Kubes gets another year CAN HE INSPIRE THE PLAYERS ti give that extra UHMPH to get over the top. Seriously look at these two teams Talent Wise .. they not too far apart. If you move VY to the Texans and Matt to the Titans. . what are their respective records? but . .. You move Kubiak to the Titans and Fisher to the Texans . . .what are their respective records? Rocket River
I still can't understand the fascination with the Titans. Yes, they used to be the Oilers, but consider a number of Texans fans weren't alive then, a number were young or very young, and for the rest, it was a long long time ago. Yes, they have Vince Young, a Houston QB. Who cares? The only Titans games I care about are the ones when they play the Texans, as I hope the Texans win every game.
WRONG FORUM. This thread is about the Titans, an NFL team from TENNESSEE that has nothing to do with Houston Sports. F*k'em. If anything, it goes in the NFL Weekly thread.
An awful lot more were alive and in town when the extremely venomous divorce took place. That's a bad taste that will never leave our mouths, even if there were no Texans. Being fair, it's more a benchmark for how badly the Texans have slumped than it is about the Titans themselves. Honestly, I could also do without another "why the Texans suck" thread. But that we may finish with a worse record than a team that spotted us over a third of their season before picking up their first win is nauseating.

Folks in their mid30s -- just their mid30s -- are old enough to have worn "Luv Ya Blue" shirts, seen the inhuman power of Earl Campbell, and of course the Run-N-Shoot years. and then we get to watch as the jerseys of HOUSTON football legends are hung in the rafters at freaking Tennessee. Bullcrap. Munchak, Matthews, and Moon played here. In HOUSTON. That will NEVER be cool. Never.
the titans were never as bad as their 0-6 start. but like someone else said, toughness. They have it and it all starts with Fisher. I always thought that the manning jersey incident had to light a fire under some of those players.
They didn't start out that bad, but they got progressively worse: 3 pt loss to Pitt 3 pt loss to Houston 7 pt loss to NY Jets 20 pt loss to Jax 22 pt loss to Indy 59 pt loss to NE By the end of that, they really were 0-6 quality. They weren't being remotely competitive in games.
Yeah, I'm old enough to "get it." I was at the 93 playoff game against the Chiefs...the last Oilers playoff game. They're not here any more. They're not named the Oilers anymore. Munchak, Matthews and Moon and Campbell and Givens and Jeffries and Slaughter and Gary Brown and Spencer Tillman and Cody Carlson and the Buffalo debacle, and the already mentioned Chiefs debacle and the Broncos choke job in the 91 playoffs. I "get it". All those players know they played for the "Houston" Oilers. All Houstonians remembered they played for the "Houston" Oilers. But that team is no more. Those players are no more. They Oilers are no more. I keep my fond (and often, not so fond) memories of those teams, but that's it. I don't have some fascination with the Tennessee Titans. I don't try and watch their games every week. I don't care if Vince Young is playing well, or partying shirtless while having mental breakdowns. Or if Jeff Fisher is wearing Peyton Manning's jersey. And I certainly don't care that they started 0-6 and are now ahead of us in the standings anymore than I would if it was the Jags, Colts, Jets, Dolphins, Ravens are any other freaking team in the league. What I do care about is this Texans team because I want them to be great. But they're not...and they underperform...and, that sucks. If there's anything to compare about the current Texans and the former Oilers, it's that both teams had/have a tendency to blow second half leads.
my bad -- your post sounded like a transplant, who just wasn't here to understand what it was like when our team of several decades defaced our Astrodome and then left. And yet their numbers are retired in Tennessee. I'm with you here. I don't understand the fascination with the team--but I *do* understand some good old-fashioned vitriol. If the Texans ever go 2-14 again, those 2 wins had better be against the Titans. we agree here, too.
AGAIN, this thread is about the TITANS, not "Texans, Astros, Dynamo" or any other Houston Sports team or player. Please move to the hangout. WRONG FORUM.
