Get this. My mother-in-law called this afternoon. She lives in Bluefield, WV-- a small mountain town of about 12,000 on the Virginia border. It is the home of Bluefield State College. An Afghan student there was discovered since September 11th to have a pilot's license. The FBI came looking for him and he has disappeared. As I understand it, all of this transpired after the tragic events of the 11th. I'm insinuating that he may have intended to be a future hijacker. If they had a guy in Bluefield, WV for God's sake, they could have thousands of "sleepers." I can't find a news story link yet. I'll keep looking. THEY ARE AMONG US!
This is so ***ing stupid... So you are going to accuse every single Muslim with a pilot's license trying to blow up buildings? Are you going to arrest every single Muslim traveling in a group accusing them of trying to hijack a plane? It seems that this is exactly what is starting to happen.
Rich i hope and assume that your post was made in good faith, but just for other people who may take it incorrectly.... There are many afghans with pilots licences, many pakistanis, many people with those licences. They are NOT all suspected. Im sure IF the FBI was actually looking for him, they had more to go on then simply "discovering he knows how to fly"
C'mon guys, use your brain here. The compelling aspect of this is not that he had his pilot's license BUT THAT HE DISAPPEARED. Hot flash: when you act suspiciously you are likely to be accused of something by someone. BTW, a nice Arab guy checked me out at the grocery store this afternoon. I started to spray Redi-Whip in his eyes and suffocate him with one of those plastic bags, BUT I THOUGHT BETTER OF IT. He was so nice!
rich, its like this im chicago born, and a houston transplant for 11 years. only thing i love more then my rockets, is capitalism. i mean ill be honest. i love america, but its because what america entails. how many countries can you live in where you determine your venue in life. where if you have the drive, determination, smarts, and a tad bit of luck.... the sky is the limit for you? all of a sudden because i have ancestory from pakistan, there are people, (not you) that i have to prove my patriotism to. NO american should have to prove that. i just got done reading one of nexxus's other posts, so i DO NOT want to be associated with him. I think america can beat terroism. and america will do it because it will set a precedent. i see im going off topic a little..... what im saying is this... i cant ask you not to post rumors of a threat and to just let the goverment do its job and talk about what are facts ... after all this is a message board. its meant to be a place of discussion but what i can ask.... is that if we have to tolerate some posts on a subject sensitive to some americans ... then please tolerate some of our remarks that are sensitve in response.
What do you mean "tolerating some posts?" My mother-in-law heard this on the radio not at the beauty parlor. I didn't post a rumor of a threat. I reported suspicious behavior by someone who fits a recent criminal profile: he's Afghan, he has a pilot's license, and he has suddenly disappeared. It could be a big misunderstanding, but the FBI is looking for the guy according to what was reported. It was meant to provoke discussion-- particularly the very real possibility that "they" could have thousands of these suicide pilots here in the US. Why in the hell would one of 5 or 10 more be in Bluefield, WV? It's a lovely place, but c'mon! If one is there, it is likely that there are many many-- a fact only rockHEAD seems to have divined.
Maybe you think it's stupid because you didn't read his post. He never said he was Muslim, he said he was an Afghan. I'd say an Afghan with a pilots license who suddenly disappears after something like this is pretty damn suspicious and warrants investigation. Maybe if it were you, you would wait until he actually hijacked a plane to start investigating huh?
I've started to type so many things here only to erase them and start over. I'm so sick and damn tired of having to explain this stuff over and over and over. 20 minutes and another start-over.......Just forget it. An Afghan with a pilot's license who suddenly disappears sounds pretty damn suspisious to me.
I understood the post richrocket ... but then again I'm not looking for some reason to get bent out of shape. I didn't take you to mean that we should be wary of any Afghan with a pilots license. But for everyone else: 1) It's not the fact that he's an Afghan. 2) It's not the fact that he had a pilot's license. 2) It's the fact that he's an Afghan with a pilot's license who has disappeared that is interesting. It may just be a coincidence--perhaps he left town looking for greener fields (sorry, couldn't resist)--but anyone would have to admit that information like that makes you wonder.
On a side note, I know of no source that has stated any of the suspected hijackers or suspects detained are of Afghan descent. We have only been provided a list of 19 muslim names which could be those of Syrians, Iranians, Libyans, Pakistanis for all we know. What has been well-documented is that Bin Laden recruits his suicide terrorists from Islamic communities in countries such as Canada, Germany, USA, England, etc. - without regard to nationality or origin, but only Islamic faith. Now, as for this Afghan w/ the pilot's license in West Virginia....considering some of the guilty until proven innocent assumptions on this board, I'm not surprised at all the guy disappeared - probably running for his life.
On another side note: Bin Laden his hiding in Afghanistan, being protected by the Taliban, which is the governing body in Afghanistan, and so far, it looks as though the nation of Afghanistan is going to be the one that gives us the most trouble, meaning that if we do wind up declaring war on a nation, it will be Afghanistan.
pippendagimp: Guilty until proven innocent is for the courtroom alone. How do you think the FBI get away with apprehending people for questioning and perhaps arresting? OJ Simpson is guilty in my mind and heart regardless of what the criminal court ruled. This Afghan pilot may be hiding for his peculiar notions of his need for safety. Sadly that makes him only look more guilty. He may have created more problems for himself. However, there is a great tendency for the guilty to act guilty when the pressure hits. All of you who get the "subtlety" of the significance of this string of events may pass GO and collect $200!
still no link..... so what barber shop did let out that bit of news. its not that it isnt eerie, its that you have decided that "they are among us" off of something you dont know may or may not be true. ... do your research. all information is out for you to see. of the 19 suspects, none are afghani. Bin laden is a refugee. And most passports are from other muslim nations. Bin laden probably knew they would think it was him, the fact that he denies it shows his cowardice and fear of being caught. no way in hell hed let people in on this that would direct blame towards him. it is the blood, sweat, and determination of american inteligence that has been able to make those correlations.
It was Floyd's barbership and Barney is heading up the team of FBI agents and local rednecks! ACTUALLY is just checked in with my mother-in-law and got the following details: It was a front-page story in Friday the 15th's paper. Still can't find a link, but she read me the story. The student was Saudi not Afghan. He transferred in from a Florida college. Don't know which. The college has a big engineering program with many, many foreign students. His pilot's license was discovered accidentally by a fellow student on September 5th and the fellow withdrew mysteriously on the 6th of September after about 2 weeks of class and some 5 days before the WTC tragedies. FBI agents have been to the campus and are continuing the search. Because of confidentiality regs, nothing more can be said. Whoa! Even better than the first version I got from my wife.
yeah it is much better.... so he left before he was being searched for. so there is no reason to suspect his guilt from his own actions. muslims are still allowed to drop classes. ive had to do it once for personal reasons. i didnt call the dean to let him know i was leaving. ... and somehow a terrorist that has time to get a better education doesnt really stack to well in the cards for me.
today is saturday the fifteenth. i assume the story is for friday the 14th. only able to find one news paper for Bluefield. "the daily TELEGRAPH" no article. ask her what paper it was. I WILL find that article.
This brings up concepts of profiling along terms of ancestry. I've heard law enforcement officials say it is absolutely impossible to take any real substantive preventive measures against crime without them. This is particularly true in a country that allows the liberty we allow for. I'm not saying let's go round up all the Arabs...I think the same treatment of the Japenese in WWII was one of the darkest moments in this country's history. But nevertheless, we can't let political correctness completely blind us. Let's see....all the terrorists were of Arabic descent....many had pilot's license...taking flight immediately after the commencement or completion of a crime...I'd say those are 3 pretty big indicators. I'm not saying you arrest him, but you're damned right that I hope that the govt at least takes the time to detain and question everyone who fits all of the three categories above!!!
Silk: C'mon he left town after someone discovered that he had a pilot's license and before there was any reason to search for him. Ask yourself this: did he know that in a few days the FBI might be looking for Saudis with pilot's licenses? He didn't just drop a class. He withdrew from school two weeks into the semester and AFTER he was discovered to have a pilot's license. You don't think that is suspicious?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The story actually goes that he dropped a plastic card on the floor. A fellow student picked it up and commented that it was a fancy looking driver's license. He replied that it was, in fact, a pilot's license. Next day he was gone. The paper is www.bdtonline.com : Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
