On 51st just east of 35 is Animal Trustees of Austin. It is hands-down the cheapest place in Austin. For cheap, go nowhere else. Problem is, you have to make an appointment in advance and sometimes it can take a little while. My sister used to work at this place and that's all they do. They're a non-profit organization.
