How good will this division be this year? How will the Texans fare? The number one thing is to do better than 1-5! Indianapolis - still the cream of the division but not by as much as in the past. Titans - The rivals. Texans - The local squad Jaguars - they should be the cellar dwellars IMO How do you Rate the teams in terms of TALENT? 1. Indy 2. Texans 3. Titans 4. Jags Indy brings back a good batch of receivers and of course have Peyton [or is it Payton] - Their running game is solid - Dunno much about their defense but others seem to think it is improved. Texans - Offensively they are explosive but the running game has not solidified Titans - the anti-texans . .. their running game is solid but the passing game is suspect Jags - I have no fricking clue - Maurice Jones Drew and a bunch of other fellows COMMENT: I think The Texans are more Talented than the Titans -- If the Titans have a better season than the Texans - it will be all on Kubes [or injuries]. <granted Fisher at this point is the better coach> Rocket River
By talent i think you hit the nail on the head 1 colts 2 texans 3 titans 4 jaguars however, i really don't think thats how it'll end up at the end of the season
I think the order of 1) Colts 2) Texans 3) Titans 4) Jaguars is pretty clear, I don't really see the scenario playing out any other way. The Jags simply are not good. While the Titans have gamebreakers in CJ2k and VY, there are too many holes on their team. The Texans have more talent than both of them but are not as good as the Colts yet.
this is true, but the texans probably had more talent than the titans and jags last year as well and look where that got them.
That is a bit of the problem. Some of that is the growing pains of new coach. The question is . . . how well with the experience that Kubes has gotten over these last few years serve him. Rocket River
Actually...I think the Texans are more talented than the Colts. The Colts just have a all-time great at QB and he makes everyone on offense better than they really should be. But I think the Colts and Texans have similar talent at the least, I'd give the edge to the Texans because I think we will have a better running game than them...but then again when your QB is Peyton and he knows how to win games, he makes the whole team look better for it.
I'm with jay google on this one. Other than brackett who is a texans killer and peyton, the texans have way more talent ON the field. Last season, it seemed that coach peyton manning out did our entire coaching staff. :remembers peyton burning dunta after dunta celebrated a tackle where the guy with the ball gained 4 yards. : on the other hand, the experience of the colts cannot be matched.. unless the texans start playing smarter. The talent is there though.
Addai, Joseph - I think he is better than the Texans RBs Indy's receiving corp is not Chopped Liver Wayne, Reggie - Garcon, Pierre - Gonzalez, Anthony - Collie, Austin - Clark, Dallas Not sure if the Texans Receives after AJ are as good. [then i am willing to concede that maybe it is peyton making them look better than they are] it is too close to just give it automatically to Texans on that. Defense Vs Defense - I am unsure on that one. I think the Texans have closed the gap but I am not ready to say they have the better talent . . . . yet. Rocket River
I don't think Addai is very good. Colts rushing attack has been their only weakness on offense, and Addai has to shoulder most of that blame. I am willing to bet that Donald Brown will be starting at HB for them by next season. I also think our WRs are just better right now. Andre of course is huge, and Kevin Walter, Jacoby are no slouches of course. Take off Reggie Wayne and I don't see that as a elite WR corps. TEs...again Owen Daniels is not Dallas Clark...but he's close to it. Outside of Clark though who is there? The Oline they are both big questions coming into next season. I'll give the edge to the Colts with Saturday at Center though. On defense, I'd say it's about even. With the exception that our LB core is probably at the top of the NFL when it comes to talent. Of course the Colts are strong with their DEs. Overall, I still feel the Texans are more talented than them. Just that Peyton does a good job of winning games. Hiding the fact their running game is not that good, or that their defense has disappointed them more times than not. Or let me just say it like this. Take off their best player (Peyton) and take off our best player (Andre) and who wins that game?
I can see you points but let's go position for position Remove Payton and Schaub - who wins that game? Remove AJ and R.Wayne - who wins that game? I think the Colts in both instances. Rocket River BTW - I think the Texans should at least split with the colts this year
I might be crazy or giving Schaub too much credit but I think the second game would be closer than the 1st I guess the question would be Would the Texans D dominate a non Payton lead Colts more than the Indy D would dominate a non Schaub lead Texans Rocket River
Talent-wise, I think we're a lot closer to the Colts than our H2H indicates. We just seem to choke late when it counts the most, while Peyton is his usual clutch self. I have a feeling they'll have their hands full this season though. Our guys look ready to rock.
I think without Peyton, the Colts offense wouldn't be nearly as effective as it is. Their defense would be able to hold a number of teams but no Peyton, that offense will have trouble operating.
I agree and don't think it's that much of a stretch that they come out ahead of tennessee this year. Still 3rd in division though.
Have you seen Curtis Painter, he is soo bad, the texans would win. If you remove Wayne, Peyton will find another reciever to throw the ball, and he also have D. Clark But overall, I think the Colts are still better, but the texans can still win against the Colts, so I think they will split games in the season.
Was anyone else puzzled in the 1st pre-season game when the play by play guy kept saying the Texans have the hardest schedule? I feel like he said it at least 5 times. I'm 99% sure the Colts have a harder schedule as a result of finishing 1st in the division. They will play the 1st place teams in the East and and North. Point being that the AFC sound has it hard this year. Playing the NFC East and AFC South won't be easy. We might not finish high in the conference but as long as we can win the division we will be golden. I would have a hard time seeing 2 teams from the South making the playoffs this year. I swear to god if we lose against the Raiders AGAIN i am going to go insane.
statistically, the Texans have the most difficult schedule in the NFL http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/21479/2010-strength-of-schedule
