Im taking Pittsburgh in this one. EDIT - Okay just saw the nice 80 yard reception. The fumble was meaningless cause he didn't have the yardage but my god that was a nice pass...and no i am not changing my pick...i will just have to eat it when they lose lol.
After NE spanked Indy last week, I don't know how anyone can pick against them anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Pats baby.
I was thinking of taking the obvious and less controversial route until others get to know me. Glad to be aboard. Looks like Pittsburgh is settling down after the fast start by the Pats.
Wow... its a rout. Big Ben has looked very average in the playoffs.... and you can't be average against this NE defense.
http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89890 Think I am going to have to tune into the Simpsons now.
NE is the luckiest ****ing team i have ever seen. they steal their first title with the horrible interpretation of the tuck rule. they never miss a fg. breaks always go their way. ben's first pass gets tipped, then tipped again and happens to bounce to them. they have 3rd and 16 and are just throwing a screen for a few yards but get the one penalty that'll save the day called and now they fumble but the receiver just got the knee down a tenth of a second before the strip. if it can go new england's way these days, it will go their way. it's not enough that they're already real good, they have to get every break. edit: and now a TD to seal it.
They have been stomping a mudhole in teams for a couple of years now and people are still claiming they are lucky? Never missing field goals might have something to do with having the best kicker in the business. Passes being tipped means that the Patriots are putting pressure on him. Etc. They have the best coach and quarterback in the business. End of story.
that ain't no catch. we're gonna have to get phil simms a better pair of eyes. on that non-fumble by the patriots he was having trouble telling the guy obviously had his knee down before the fumble and now trying to argue that this was a catch. geez. blind monkeys in caves on mars can tell it hit the ground. i think phil needs the john madden memorial "i can't watch replays and tell what's going on" award.
WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU THROW ON 2ND AND 2 AND A HALF!!!!! edit: football coaches continue to prove they are some of the stupidest people to walk the earth. what a way to go 4 yards in 4 plays. ever thought of a fullback handoff? a qb sneak? running 4 straight downs? huh? nah, run, terrible lob that you might try on 3rd and goal from the 10, run up the middle, chicken out for the field goal. brilliant. you just punched NE's ticket to the super bowl. hell, even if you miss they're pinned down at the 1. edit edit: i mean damn, you still have to score twice now. and since it sounds like kicking field goals in this stadium is damn hard you'll have to move it far down even if you go the fg, td + 2 pt conversion route.
The ghost of Marty Schottenheimer just entered Cowher. Should have went for it on 4th down. Trust your O. that may cost the Steelers.
I don't think kicking the field goal was a bad idea since the Pats have already stopped the Steelers on 4th and short situations earlier. As Francis said, Cowher screwed up by flaking out on that second down call.
and what makes it even better is pitt has done a terrible job on kickoff coverage all day. no one even enters the picture until the guy has already hit the 20 (and in this case about the 25) every damn time. should've gone for it, although they went for it on 4th and 1/2 and somehow couldn't make it. of course, they forgot about qb sneaks then, too. now thanks to the great kickoff coverage and poor D so far, NE is already in range to take the fg back. awesome call.
