The Bears are firmly in control in the NFC game. Time for the big boys to play. Manning and the Colts will once again get owned by Brady and Belichick. Go Patriots!!
I actually think the best thing that could have happened to the Colts was to see how San Diego lost last week... it was almost as if the Chargers played the role of the "Colts" to perfection vs. the Patriots. Which is why I'm leery of picking New England this time... too many things had to go right for them last week to barely squeak by... the Colts have a golden opportunity to not make the same mistakes the Chargers did in losing a home game.
Totally agree. I think the Patriots have been winning with smoke & mirrors recently, both in the regular and postseason. And there should be less pressure on Manning, if the Colts defense can play anything like it has the last two weeks. We'll see - the Patriots have that weird way of pulling things off out of nowhere, but I expect a pretty solid Colts win.
At least the Bears won. If the Colts beat the Pats, this will be the best ever Super Bowl for me. A dream come true! I still think the Pats will win. The Colts haven't been impressive in their two games. Manning better snap out of it or they don't have a chance because the Pats will definitely score some touchdowns.
The same could be said of the Pats last week... and throughout the regular season. The ONLY thing the Pats have going for them is the "mystique" of beating the Colts in the playoffs before... sometimes that holds true, but eventually it doesn't. (see the Yankees in '01 and '04).
Brady's not going to have another game like that as long as he plays football.Indy's defense is good, but not like the Chargers..NE WILL score points. New England's defense is going to shut down the Indy running game and keep Manning under control. Not only that, they probably will put points on the board themselves. I could see the Pats running the ball on the Colts too. NE 34 INDY 20
If the COLTS win and go on to the Super Bowl... their blemish this season will be losing to the Tucking Fitans and our very own Houston Texans . By that note, they do not deserve to go to the big game, but I hope they do, because they've always fallen short, and--I hate to say it--Paidtons Manning is going to beat the Patriots twice this season. I believe this will be the very LAST good chance they have to make it in.
I get what you're saying... but its not like the Colts are a super old team that's reaching for one last shot at glory. They could lose Freeny in the off-season, but that's the only thing that's really in-flux. Addai and their receivers could still carry them back next year (along with a revamped defense that was going to be improved anyways).
Nick, do you agree that when they didn't keep Edgerrin James, they lost a major piece? Again, this is their LAST major chance.
No... I thought James was overrated and aging, and it showed this year. I thought they were MUCH better off this year with Addai and Rhodes splitting carries... and both runners look fresher in the playoffs because of it. Also, wouldn't losing Edgerrin have affected them THIS year? They're in the conference championship, with a home game to send them to the Super Bowl... didn't look like they lost much.
I thought the Super Bowl matchup was gonna be great right after last week's games ended. No matter what the matchup, there are great story-lines, and no glaring mis-match. Also, there were three historically great franchises with huge followings, and the Saints (who have been "america's team" this year)... no matter what, there's going to be interest.
Somebody should really put together a highlight clip of all the near-misses, lucky bounces, phantom rule-enforcements, and breaks that the Pats have had in their "dynasty". Don't get me wrong... they've been a model franchise... but I've never associated them as much with the 49ers, Cowboys, or Steelers dominance from the past. Too many things end up going right for them.
