I am going up to washington around early march. Never been up there before. Any advice on what airline/airport to use? What part of the town is safer without being too expensive on hotels and being too far the attractions? What are some things I must do when I am up there? I enjoyed most of the things fellow clutchfans recommended for my austin trip in 08. Thanks!
I think there was a thread on this a few months back. Anyway, I always try to fly into National. Much less hassle and better views.
Heading To Washington D.C. Soon... That's my thread from a few months back. Tons of good advice and suggestions in there. Unfortunately when I went I was only there for a day and only had a chance to see the Capitol and the Library of Congress. I hope to go back again soon to check out the rest of the attractions.
Fly into Regan, and take the subway into DC. Very cheap to get around, no taxi/rental car needed. I have stayed at the Washington Suites Georgetown. A short walk to Georgetown, and another short walk to the Foggy Bottom/GWU metro station. Very convinent location. Good luck.
since i don't have searching abilities (i don't ese why only contributing members can use that)...i used google and only got a thread from 2006. i need to start looking up hotels and maybe priceline it. but i can't find the site i used to get multiple bids..it calculated the permutations for you..
The thread I referenced for you was from 4-5 months ago (2010). No google necessary, just click the link for the good stuff. I also recommend priceline for hotel pricing (use the negotiator thing to quote your own price) and kayak.com for an aggregated search.
If I went to DC, i'd probably end up staying with my Aunt. I'd like to take my mom up there sometime. I'd like to check out that Cherry tree thing.
