I think it's an understatment to say we're all disappointed with the start of this season - especially those of us who have been waiting 10 years to see the return to the glory years of this franchise. While it looks pretty bleak, I've come to the point where I'm neither expecting this team to tank or to pull out a miraculous recovery. Who knows...last year it happened, but sometimes these things are not in the cards. You just can't predict it.

So seeing all these threads...i just realize that hey - I'm a Rockets fan. I'm going to enjoy watching Rockets games no matter what. The expectations are gone. It's about cheering on Head and seeing if he can be the next Sam Cassell. It's about watching spectatular plays from MacGrady, see what this Alston guy can do once he's settled in to JVG complex offensive sets. It's about seeing Yao's feathery touch and how's he going to grow.

Wipe away the bad stuff guys - it's tiring. It's sad. Let's just enjoy watching the Rockets because there a team we love and if it doesn't happen - oh well, we'll talk about draft picks...if it does, we'll all get excited...but either way...you don't get to watch superstars on a nightly basis like McGrady often...so just enjoy it for while it lasts.

i agree, imma be a rockets fan through the good and bad, i have faith in the rockets organization and know they can turn this around if not this year than next...i still think we cant judge this team without tmac and alston back in the lineup and give them time to gel and get back in shape....

Somehow, I have this feeling that this is not the Rocket's year. I saw TMac interviewed on the news and, boy, he doesn't look or sound like he is ready to return. I will always be a Rocket's fan, but we have some major bad karma working right now. It's just not going our way. Things can always change, but not looking good at the moment.

Or, you could take the advice of the Doctor in Fight Club.

"You wanna see pain? Swing by First Methodist Tuesday nights. See the guys with testicular cancer. That's pain."

Thank you, this thread is like a breath of fresh air, among all the garbage here. I, am one, that still has high hopes for the season. I just don't believe with the talent on this team, they can't win. Having a healthy team is step one. We don't even have that.

Thank you for this. I dunno what it is about these threads now, but they're depressing and so negative that they make me wanna stay away from these boards. I'm all for being disappointed but when people start to judge and analyze the team and individual players, calling for their heads thinking they know everything about basketball, it makes me not want to even bother reading. Now im not asking for sunshine posts all the time, but when criticizing, I atleast want to see subjective posts that are fair, but thats probably never gonna happen all the time.

Im just as frustrated as everyone else is, but there are better ways to take out frustration. Be happy we get to see amazing players play, be happy that we have a team to watch, be happy that you're able to watch them.

I agree with the disappointment, but it still hurts knowing they should be doing a hell of a lot better...I'm still cheering, but man, I'm getting crap all day everyday here in the Big D...

Yeah...the NewYorker I remember was as pessimistic a fan as I could remember. ;)

    Seriously though, great post.

Good point. People has to be smart before you think about trading Yao. The import thing you need to watch is if Yao and Tmac play well together. We have the hope if they do. My big disappointment is Swift. He looks like lost most of the time when he plays. It would be good the old Cato could play with Yao. He helped Yao a lot than other PF we have.

    Cheers for Rockets as always.

It's no fun being pessimistic when EVERYONE else is too!

I like your signature. "Sura is the key ingredient to the success of Rockets".
I don't see Rafer as a better replacement for Sura but Head is closer and better in some aspects.

Funny only 16 posts and it already ranks at five stars which is higher than most of the other negative dribble being posted here. Houston fans are such a bunch of band wagon jumpers.....LOL

Great post, I am a true Rockets fan through the highs and lows. I think Yao is a the real deal, T-Mac makes the entire team better and is a top five player in this league. If we can get Swift to wake up and the other guys to start hitting some open jump shots heck we might even win a few games and make the playoffs. We are missing Sura's grit which IMO is highly under rated in this league. And for those of you in denial, Bowen in many ways IS a better player then Swift. He may not be as athletic but he is definitely a smarter basketball player and plays with much more fire and intensity. From what I've heard Bowen and Sura hang out a lot outside of the locker room so that should tell you something.

    Go Rockets!!!

Answer: Rybo has a blackbook filled with phone numbers of great looking women?

Hey great thread. Some of these guys need time playing together and in Gundy's system. I expect a win-loss curve like last year where it just kept going up and we finished the season winning at the same rate as the top teams. Tmac being out a bunch of games obviously hosed this first month. Remember Yao was hurt last season and IIRC didn;t get his cast off and his shot going until Xmas or thereabouts.

I still enjoy watching Tmac create - he is much more exciting to watch than the previous product - lots of smarts and creative ability and making his teammates better.

And I love screaming at the TV when Yao gets hosed by a ref like last night on that phantom offensive foul.

    It is all good.

    Kinda like that bumper sticker:

A bad day at a Rockets game is still better than a good day at work!

    :D

I agree, it was getting depressing reading nothing but negative posts around here. I , too get all ticked off and curse at the tv when the Rockets lose. Every night after a loss i am dpressed and think what is wrong with the team. However, every morning I wake up and I believe again. This Rocket team is going to be all right. They will start winning, and this horrible start will just be a memory. Who knows, remember in 95 when we came in as the sixth seed and and everyone thought the Rockets were done. I remember reading in the Chronicle that Rudy said, "we are the only team that is still getting better" We all know how that ended. So here's to this Rockets team learning JVG's system, Tmac's health, and Alston being the point guard that the Rockets need him to be.
