[Advice]Purchasing Cheap Software

    I am looking to buy software, and came across this site (a1ashopping) that has what I want extremely cheap. Is it pirated or illegal? If so, could I get in trouble for purchasing through them? Anyone ever purchased anything from them or a similar site? Just checking.

    sounds like they just download the illegal versions and sell it to you.

    on their FAQ it says it comes as CD-IMAGES(which are the norm for downloading illegal software) and it doesn't come in any packaging, just download links.

    I wouldn't trust them.

    Thats right, this site downloads the software online "illegally" for you. So they download for free, you pay $$$.

    most likely illegal.

    my boss tried to buy some adobe pro 8 off of website like this that was somewhat cheap and when he downloaded the zipped exe the instructions for installing called for downloading a keygen that was made by a pretty prominent warez apps group. I started laughing and said if we were going to install that version I would have sold it to you for half the cost.


    it sucks but if you are doing it for work, bite the bullet and buy from a legit source its going to cost you more but its not worth the hassle if you ever get audit and get ask for licenses for all the software the company is using.

    Note: It's a clue that the software company does not post a business address anywhere on the site. That's a bad indicator of a shady organization. This is most likely an asian-based bootleg software scam company, as others here have suggested.

    Another clue: in the site's faq, nowhere does it talk about registering the software with the manufacturer or manuf. warranty. That's another bad sign.
