Can anybody suggest books or software or any general tips or suggestions for learning a new language? I may invest in software (Rosetta Stone, from what I've come across, is generally regarded as the best, and it better damn well be for the money they charge), but don't want to overlook sources that may help. Best way, of course, would be full immersion by moving to a foreign country, something I may consider down the road. But in the mean time...? (The language I'm attempting to learn is French by the way...I took 3 years worth waaayyy back when, but couldn't tell you anything.)
