Hitting the river this weekend (guadalupe not the comal), and I was looking for some input on where to rent our tubes from? I was in HS (just over 10 years) since the last time I went tubing down the Guadalupe.

While we're planning on doing the Guadalupe, I'd love to hear whether floating the Comal is better.

As always, the advice is greatly appreciated...

Have you verified if they've reopened the river after the floods? I know they were still closed last weekend and the water is still pretty high in most parts.

I haven't. Will check now. Could I break a record for "thread that became completely irrelevant in the shortest amount of time?"

    Rockin R.

I've always preferred the Guadalupe since it's a little more scenic, although it is slighly quieter.

It's open. Current flow is at 444 to 955 cf/second depending on the area. They close if it's over 1200.

You definitely want to do the Guadalupe then. If its moving that fast, the Comal float will be over in an hour, and you'll have to take the bus back and do it again. Do the Lupe, stop on the rocks and drink 10 Miller Lites, then finish the rest.

Love this site... there's nothing better than getting real advice from people that you (mostly) think aren't idiots.

So there's 4 locations of Rockin' R. Should I go to the main one?

Forget the Guadalupe altogether and go to Don's Fish Camp. Best place to float the river.

On my wife recommendation, we went with Jerry's and it was great. We were in the water within minutes and enjoyed an excellent 4 hour float.

Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to post your thoughts.
