Ive been offered to work for Centerpoint Energy in their Customer Service department.

Anyone here ever worked for them? Is it a good company for? Centerpoint would be paying me $2.18 more hourly but my commute would be 20 miles further then my current job and Centerpoint offers no parking downtown. Park-Ride is an option, I'll have to check on there operational hours and nearest location to Willowbrook so at this moment, not sure how much of an option that is yet......

Any insight would be much appreciated?

It seems like everyone who works there has been there 20 or more years. So, yeah, pretty good company.

don't know anything about the company, but purely from a financial standpoint..

$2.18 more hourly = $17.50 more per day earned.

20 miles = 1 gallon of gas = $3 more each way = $6 per day more in gas
(I assume Park and Ride would be a similar cost? No clue)

Then factor in that 20 miles extra or public transpo is gonna add, what, an hour of your day? Is another hour of your time (maybe 90 mins) worth $10 earned?

more senior people are working there which implies that it's a good company to spend the rest of your life there. good for retirement. ;)

Sorry to bump up this thread. But I am also interviewing with their IT department. tigereye did you accept their offer? If you did, what is it like working there? Did you have a chance to talk with anyone in their IT department?

EDIT: $4200 more a year, minus extra costs.

    Maybe room for advancement?
