Does Lebron care more about his net worth than winning? I don't know if I can say that now but Adrian makes some good points.

Great read, but ive always thought Lebron didnt have the mentality that others have as Adrian pointed out MJ, kobe, magic. The more and more i think about it is Lebron all about the fame and money? Has it got to his head? Will he ever win a championship?

Lebron may be the greatest player in the world but sure as hell isnt the greatest teammate if its all about the money and fame.

I think there is a lot of truth in that article. Lebron regularly hangs out with CEOs and is very involved in his own business and in establishing himself as a "brand." He sees the bigger picture outside of basketball and wants to get to that status as soon as possible, in a way that I almost think he wants to be seen and respected as something more than "just a basketball player."

His attention is definitely split between the desire to win a ring and "generate revenue streams." I get a little bit of the feeling that he believes a championship will eventually come easily to him, much in the same way that everything else in his life has. He does not seem laser-focused on winning one and it does not seem to be the primary factor that is driving and motivating him.

The problem is, from a business standpoint, disappointing playoff exits and the lack of championships will eventually chip away at his marketability and dilute his brand. Though he may not want it to be true, fulfilling his potential as a basketball player is the primary factor that is going to build connections, establish short and long-term revenue streams, and generate incredible brand equity.

Lebron is going to get more of this treatment if he goes to NYC, the lowlifes in the national and NYC media love to tear players down after they've built them up.

As for Adrian W, I guess he wanted Lebron to act more like his buddy Tmac for the press conference. I guess Adrian W wouldn't have had any problems if Lebron had said: It's On Me. When will these mediots learn that it's not about what they say after the game, it's about their play during the game.

No kidding. Here's the whole quote:

And yet, after Tuesday’s ferocious failure of his professional career, the encompassing embarrassment of a 120-88 Game 5 loss to the Boston Celtics, James dismissed his unthinkably poor performance with this colossal cop-out: “I spoil a lot of people with my play. When you have three bad games in seven years, it’s easy to point them out.”

Good god... this ass hat is just as much the egomaniac that Bryant is. Give me a break. I'd rather have players not "as talented" who never take a play off, never give up, never surrender. What a clown.

    You can be both.

Tmac's involvement in Daifur is right up there with the best things NBA players have done in history.

Of course with Tmac though he says 'Its on me.' then sarcastically says "It's my fault."

I don't worry with Lebron. Jordan had financial success BECAUSE he won championships. I really don't think Jordan gave a **** where he played as long as he was winning. I think Jordan cared about winning more than anything else while he played...winners are marketable, not Losers and quitters.

Lebron will fall as quickly as he has risen, and everyone will cling onto the next big guy. So he better be about basketball. If the article is right about Lebron then meh, he'll just be another guy you say "Man...he used to be really good...wonder what happened."

Jordan was the most marketable player in the league before he ever won a championship.

So you would take scola, hayes or battier over lebron? Whatever. He's telling the truth about it. People do get spoiled and act he cant have a bad game here and there. I've never thought of that roster as that great anyway, just he's great with avg coaching. They have depth, but they don't have anyone as good as gasol, odom,or even bynum for that matter outside of lebron.

You guys and the media are all a bunch of diva's/drama queen's with no talent of your own, so it's easy to dog pile on LeBron right now for being candid with the press. LeBron loves to talk but he's backed it up from day 1 on the court - he'll take this Cavs team as far as they can go. Unfortunately this isn't a league where 1 man teams win championships and the rest of the Cavs just haven't shown up. That's all there is to it.

Bad game? Did he even try?

A bad game is not what Lebron had, bad games you can live with.

Bryant is a Egomaniac . .. who went on to EARN the EGO.
When he 1st came in I thought. .was an *SS. Heck I wanted him to fail!!
    But
I can admit. . . he EARNED the ego.

I always said the difference between Kobe and TMac was THE WORK!
Kobe simply OUT WORKED TMac. .. .

Will it be the same with LeBron . . .will it be that
Kobe simply wanted more than LeBron

Lebron too, that's not really the point. Point is IF Lebron THINKS he can own a team like Jordan does now by quitting on his team, he has another thing coming to him.

Point is Jordan would not have been anything without the massive success he's had. I think Lebron knows that, he has to know that in order to be the billionaire he wants to be...he has to win and win a lot.

Jordan won multiple MVPs, DPOY, Championships. If he had not done so he would not sell his shoes and the Nike brand the way he did. Success is the most important thing for a players marketability. Look at Bush, he had all the hype and commercials before he played a game. Even a commercial about how we passed him up. Bush had the superstar look, was from a big market, was being called the next "enter HOF HB here" and where has his lack of success individually got him?

That is all i'm saying. Just that if it is true that Lebron cares more about his paycheck than winning, most likely his paycheck will be shrinking and the NBA world will move onto the next big prospect whoever that may be. Lebron is not bigger than the sport.

I don't think he's quit on his team, I think the elbow theory is correct. That it is worse than he's put out there.
