I'm not an expert on his previous Kings team but from what I know the Kings almost tasted finals but were blacklisted by the NBA with rigged games against the Lakers the same as the Rockets were against the spurs. My question stems from this. Perhaps Adelman wants to recreate what he had with his team then and doesn't really have much of an idea to create a system around our players that really works (defense). Does it seem like he is trying to force squares into circle holes just to fit his system?
I think Adelman is stunned by the JVGism in his starters. A system that is slow, dumb, lazy, mediocre and unclutch is the system that Adelman needs to build based on his players' instinct.
Adelman used different systems with his successful Blazers and Kings teams. He has some core philosophies but he generally adapts his style to maximize the abilities of his players. That's what he's trying to do here.
I'm lost as well. But if thats the case they should bring everyone out of retirement and make them play those games over "fairly reffed." hah....fairly reffed...that kills me.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3436401 There is plenty of evidence in print and video, dig around.
When did this happen? I hope he recreates his Blazers.. but we don't have anyone as good as Clyde Drexler playing the 2.
With one of the greatest defensive minds to ever coach in the NBA, they never got out of the 1st round. How about waiting until Adelman has a healthy team for 3 solid weeks before making a generalization? And no...he doesn't want to recreate the Kings...Adelman is smart enough to know that even if Yao was equal to Vlade and CWebb in the high-post, the Rockets have few cutters that finish with authority. Certainly none from the list of Alston, Battier, Grady or Head. Hell, I'm smart enough to see that.
You can't recreate magic. Thats like asking Rudy T to comeback and recreate the Clutch City Rockets with this roster or any other team. What Rick needs to do is come up with a system that fits these type of guys. Tweak his system to take advantage of our player's strengths. Because whatever the heck he is doing now, doesn't seem to be working. Who knows? Maybe he is doing something and our players just aren't responding.
i don't think that's true... all we need is brooks to be like bibby especially on the clutch department... and barry to be like paja. scolandra can be webber except for his lack "clutchness". it's doable.
the NBA is managing to recreate the tired-out Lakers v. Celtics storyline... so anything is possible. As far as the kings, this is just meant to inspire discussion.
When asked what he likes about this team, he specifically mentioned the basketball operations people on the team as being very helpful. It sounds to me like he and Morey have a good working relationship.
That article doesn't give Donaghy too much credence though and even JVG, doesn't support the allegations.
Haha, of course the NBA will try to discredit him... and JVG realized he was biting the hand that feeds him so he backed off. Use your brain and go research it.
I mean use your brain as in think about it... not trying to call you stupid. Upon reading that I could have stated that a lot nicer. Anyway, that article is not a stellar example... look up some press conferences and other news articles out there. Also check out the game video... it's pretty interesting to note the BS calls going on.
I remember watching both series in question and yes there were a bunch of bad calls but bad calls happen all the time. I'm going to need a lot more to say that there is a conspiracy in the NBA to keep the Kings and the Rockets down. If I believed in one I certainly wouldn't be bothering to watch NBA games or discuss them on Clutchfans.
