According to this article the rockets promised they would feature ariza on offense. I don't know about you, but from watching ariza he doesn't seem to have any creating ability.

Promising a player playing time doesn't seem like a good idea.

He doesn't have the ability to create for himself or others. His strengths are slashing to the basket. Which should work well in this offense since its based on a lot of player movement. Seriously though, T-Mac on one leg and a bad back could create more of offense than Ariza. :p

Ariza is a great role player in a Championship team. He will never be a 2nd or 3rd option on a Championship team.

Lottery team, maybe. Sacramento Kings anyone?

lol, i dont think he has to worry about that.
Who is going to start over him? Jermaine Taylor?

IF we trade Battier it will be for C or SG.

I read less in this about Ariza to be a main option on offense, and more "we don't plan on having McGrady involved with the team"

Featuring a guy on offense could mean a lot of different things though. He could be featured in the transition game. He could be featured in the halfcourt set. He could be featured against less athletic teams. I would'nt read to much into it.

i don't know exactly what adelman meant by "feature you on offense," but this doesn't necessarily mean "main option." it probably just means one of the primary offensive weapons. i don't see what's horrible about that. our problem last year was usually generating offense, and ariza has the ability to slash and finish at the rim. with yao and t-mac out and von wafer leaving, we need to ask him to take on additional load. right now our primary scorers are brooks are scola, and that doesn't suffice.

perhaps morey thought with the lakers, ariza had more offensive potential than he could display because of kobe bryant and gasol taking all the shots. since we have him locked up for a while, let's let him show what he can do on offense.

"Feature on offense" and Ariza don't go together, however you mean it.

I'm sure that's just another way of saying that the system plays to his strengths offensively - slashing to the hoop, and spacing the floor with 3s when Yao is in the paint(if he ever gets back on the court). I don't think it's anything to be worried about. I'm sure Adelman isn't going to push for him to get 20 shots a game or anything.

remember this isn't a direct quote, adelman said to ariza , who told someone else, who then told someone else...perhaps "featured on offense" werent the exact words...basically it just means he was promised PT and touches. Also remember that Houston isn't just going to bring him in as Ariza the Laker role player, they actually want him to work on his game and polish it up so he can be more offensive-minded..

the odds that mcgrady even puts on a rockets uniform this year are so miniscule as to not even be worth discussing.

he's just a contract at this point.

    It could happen...

I mean I a lot of people thought Iguodala could never develop into a offensive player, and he is in sort of the same mold/style as Ariza.

Creating more offense? You mean jacking up more bad shots?

We'll definitely get the transition/fast break game back with Ariza, no doubt. That was a glaring hole the past 2 seasons.

I like to refer to the lack of a transition game as the ghost of JVG.
