give adelman credit...who would have the courage to sit james and francis down and play brooks. this kid can flat ball. he is singlehandedly going to turn this season around. he is monta ellis with decision making ability. give the credit to adelman for drafting him and now playing him! great job rick!
I really like the rotation as it is now....and if he can just get Tmac to come in and be a part of it, rather than trying to do it all, the team can really fly. Also, Scola...I really like Brooks and Scola on that high pick and pop....Isaiah and Lambier style baby ! DD
Adelman is very loyal to veterans but Mike James flat out sucks. I still give the benefit of doubt to Steve Francis that Francis is out of shape and I hope Adelman will somehow try to work Francis back into rotation. Aaron Brooks is a nice pick but I still worry about his defense. To let Kyle Lowry box out Brooks for a put back just dont make you feel comfortable about Brooks' defense.
Oh come on, one play? Where was Yao or Scola or Hayes on that rebound? Your PG should be on the wings ready for the quick outlet pass anyway... DD
It wasn't really courage, more like desperation. Brooks was that drastic change, and one that is working so far.
Exactly. Courage has nothing to do with it and saying AB "is singlehandedly going to turn this season around" is pure hyperbole.
Yeah I have to highlight this as a good point as well. Hopefully AB continues to shine, but I'm far removed from singing the Adelman gospel right now.
AB is a rookie. Who's the last rookie who turned a season around single handedly? With all due respect, disagreed.
don't get too carried away now... but yeah, if brooks and scola can somehow develop into those 2... can yall say THE ROCKETS WILL BE INVINCIBLE
Scouting report from 1/31/2007: Oregon’s Aaron Brooks has improved his draft stock just as much, if not more than any 2007 draft prospect so far. The diminutive point guard has gone from an underachieving McDonald’s All American to a potential candidate for College Player of the Year, all in the span of one exhilarating half-season at Oregon. After leading his team to a 13-0 start and beating then #1 UCLA on a dramatic game-winning shot, that was probably the point where we should have started talking about Brooks in hindsight. The energetic Brooks has proven this year that despite having a reputation as a selfish player, one can turn it around if placed in the right situation. The numbers back this claim up as well, as he has averaged 19.1 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.7 steals while shooting nearly 49% from the field, 86% from the line, and 41% from three point territory. It has truly been a dream year for a player who prematurely ended his season last year by despicably elbowing Washington’s Ryan Appleby in the face during the PAC-10 Tournament. Brooks has established himself as the creator in a perimeter oriented Ducks lineup that consists of guards Bryce Taylor, Tajuan Porter, Malik Hairston, and forward Marty Leunen. He is easily one of the five quickest players on the college level, allowing him to penetrate against just about any guard he is matched up with. He combines his incredible quickness with shooting range that extends well beyond the NBA three point line, and he shows no hesitance whatsoever to pull the trigger if he feels disrespected by the daylight he is seeing. A lightning bug guard who can shoot the hell out of the ball is always going to be a tough player to defend, to say the least.
Perhaps, but in a season such as this one there just aren't many positives. Atleast there is "some" hope.... barring some type of trade.
