So, if you look around the league, there are a few teams whose coaches have legit claim COY (not in any order):

    - Boston: You can argue that this is due to the big 3 they acquired, so more like Ainge for GM of the year, but Doc Rivers have to make them gel together quickly and he did.

    - Portland: For missing Oden and still do very well. But they are on the downhill slide now, not that strong of a case as if they are definitely making the playoff.

    - Orlando: SVG did a great job putting the team together and definitely helped improved DHoward's performance to the next level. Orlando is sure to make noise in the Eastern Conf playoff

    - A bunch of perennial considerations: Spurs' Popovich, Jazz's Sloan, Pistons' Saunders, Lakers' Jackson, Mavericks' Johnson, etc., but they are perennial, stable, had been there for a while, blah, blah, ...

    - And then there is Rox and Adelman. Adelman pulled off a drastic change from a defense-only team with no offensive creativity, to one with offensive movement as fluid as water, winning 15 straight, playoff bound, and potentially more, making adjustment to missing their star player, etc., etc. I'd say Adelman is as deserving as any of the others, if not more.

    What do you think?
If you believe, let's make some noise (make the case) with blogs, ESPN, and others.

He'll be a COY candidate if the Rockets make the playoffs and have a good showing.

Byron Scott would probably have my vote, after Adleman of course. He's had the hornets playing at an elite level throughout the whole season when they weren't even in the playoff picture last year.

If you're going to put Doc Rivers in there, you should put Phil Jackson as well. His players are finally understanding the triangle 100% and their record speaks for itself. Usually COY goes to teams that had a significant W/L improvement from the previous year. So I'm thinking Rivers will win it, especially since we were a 52 win club last year and a rebound away to potentially advancing to the Western Conference Finals (I'm sure we would've beat Golden State).

well adelman inherited a 50win team.

    the celtics were bottom feeders.

    the lakers were mediocre.

    the blazers were sub .500

    the hornetys were mediocre.

i think byron scott is gonna win it.

Well, Celtics added the Big 3.
    Lakers added Pau.
    Blazers are dropping like rocks
    Hornets got Peja back.
Rox only added Scola, a rookie by definition.

I think Byron has a strong chance if they keep going strong. But I have a feeling they are sliding down.

i think voters are gonna look at a 50 win team expected to win 60gms at the beginning of the yr. the celts were expected to be in the ECF. the blazers werent expected to be so hot early on, but theyve cooled off. i think the surprising hornets are gonna help byron scott edge out phil jackson. lets not forget before pau, the lakers were off to a rolling start with essentially the same lineup.

I think its either going to Byron Scott or Adelman. To make the playoffs without our best player is a strong case for why he should win.

If we finally win a playoff series, Adelman will be a COY candidate. But he won't be a lock to win. David Stern and his NBA lackeys will probably want to give it to a more media friendly team, like the Lakers or Celtics.

Thats true! Hard to get consideration when it wasl already a 50 win team that basically had homecourt in the playoffs last season. He would need to be Top in West as well as playing an exciting brand of basketball, beating the other elite team for consideration...if not, what has he done but duplicate our previous success.

JVG was a COY candidate last year, and Adelman has at least matched him record-wise (albeit, with a little more talent). So, yeah, it makes sense that Adelman should be considered as well. For him to actually win it, the Rockets need to finish the year off real strong, though. It will be tough.

Rick deserve Coach Of The Year we all know why. If we go to the top of the Western then T-Mac will be regular season MVP and Rick will get COY. Then by that time we could bring all the trophies to H'Town.

I personally wish Adelman will win the COY but realistically, I think the league
would go for Doc Rivers as the Celtics were among the last in the league to the top of the league this year.

I don't care about any of these awards anymore. I used to, but after the last 11 years, I really don't anymore.

I just want the team to win in the playoffs.
