I need to preface this thread with a disclaimer that this is not a bash Adelman thread. I think the team will ultimately be fine and Coach A's offense will put us over the top.

With that being said, I do not think Adelman is an "in-game" coach. I went to the last two games and he makes absolutely zero decisions as a result of what is currently happening in the game. Part of this may have to do with the fact that his offense is motion-based, and the cuts and actions the players make are reactions to movements of others. I think we can live with this, as long as the assistant coaches surrounding him are competent enough to recognize game trends and make the necessary adjustments.

Does anyone have any insight into our assistant coaching staff? The only one I know is Jack Sikma, and I don't think he brings too much to the table. Also, are there any defensive-oriented guys we could bring in as a new assistant? I think that Elie would have been perfect in this role, as someone who would add some toughness to a defense that sorely needs it.

I don't have any particular insight that isn't commonly known. Elston Turner is the lead assistant. Sikma's focus is Yao.

Adelman isn't one of those coaches who has a lead guy that exercises a lot of influence, such as Rick Carlisle under Larry Bird or Eddie Jordan under Byron Scott (at New Jersey). That is not his style and he seems to be in control of most everything, including in-game decisions.

I think it's inexcusable to have Bonzi and Luther on the floor at the same time. One can't get any elevation or finish around the cup with any consistency, and the other can't handle the rock to save his life. Having those two in without Mac or (shudder) Rafer leaves us very vulnerable on the court to defensive pressure.
