I wonder if maybe it is not time to cut bait with Tmac and trade him for Marbury or another expiring deal.

You get an expiring contract this year, Tmac gets out of the way of Yao leading, and basically you end the drama.

Sure you go down in talent, but at least you would gain a focus on the team, a direction, they would no longer be waiting for Tmac and whether he would play or not.

I am not counting on Marbury playing, but he is expiring, and he probably could play more games than Tmac and be as productive if his head is on right.

Also, anyone else think that maybe with Tmac out of the way, Yao might actually step up to lead like it is his team, sort of like how he does with the CNT?

I think Yao is one of those wait your turn types of guys, and maybe he doesn't want to step on Tmac's toes (Lord knows that might force him to miss half a season).......

So, is it time to cut bait? Or is it time to let Tmac get whatever is wrong with him right?

And, do you think Tmac will get right?

At the very least, if I were the Rockets organization, I would leak a rumor about this deal....just to see Tmac's reaction.

    Absolutely.

    Not for Marbury, though.

I also don't think Yao has the personality or basketball IQ to lead a team.

yeah but if we trade him for marbury can we win a championship without him?
    NO.

i like the whole idea of sitting him out on back to backs. lets see how that goes and then decide whether it was a good idea or not.
we want to win a championship now, and if we trade tmac, then we will need help at the sg position and besides gordon who i believe comes off next yr i dont know very many other ppl, but thats beside the point.
    DONT trade tmac.
these threads are becomin pointless and everyone is sayin the same thing over and over again and its gettin annoyin

i would wait to see how he finishes the season n if he does bad i would trade him for a top draft pick n maybe somethin else if we could... it sounds like its kinda hard to happen but its an option... you get a player for the future and a player who can contribute right away

So, you are for holding out hope that he gets better and gets a fire in his belly for winning.

Do you realize that 3 teams and 11 years have gone by with numerous coaches waiting for the same thing?

I think by cutting him loose now, maybe you tell the team no one is safe, and time to play for your job, and that lolligagging like Tmac is doing is not welcome around here.

BB, I'm not calling you out, but really, who do you think we should build this team around then? I know you don't have faith in Yao, and you can't possibly believe AB is a franchise player.

If you do something like this, you maybe trade Tmac + Rafer for Marbury and Q-Rich.....or some such and you go from there.

Or Tmac and Landry for Marbury and Harrington....or something like that to change the dynamic of your roster.

absolutely. not only has he been physically declined, he's also been a distraction ala starbury-like.

i don't remember i've ever seen or heard of a star player with such a high price tag having a meeting with the gm and the head coach, and then announcing which games he's gonna play or not play - all when his teammates busting their behinds on the court. it is so ridiculous. honestly, if i were morey or adelman, i'd feel being hijacked and just tell him to sit until i can find a suitable trade.

I don't think we should trade him at least until the offseason. I don't see anyone available that can help us now more than Tmac getting healed up by playoff time.

If he doesn't heal up, he's a 20+ million expiring next year that we could parlay into a blockbuster. If nothing great gets offered, we just wait and go after all the big free in 2010.

To be fair, I am not there yet, but am getting closer every day.......I would wait a while...probably through January to see if he gets it together, but if the drama persists, because of his knee or his home situation...then I would be much more willing to cut bait for the good of the team.

True, but couldn't you do it a year earlier with Marbury? I mean there will be a lot of players in 2010....maybe you jump the rest and do it now?

Also, what other team might be willing to ride the Tmac drama wagon for at least 2 years? Any 2nd tier EC team? Maybe Atlanta?

Agreed. I wonder when Lamar realizes that he doesn't deserve 20million+ contract.

No, we keep him till 2010 and use his expiring contract to go for a bigger FA. Trading him for expiring garbage seems like we're just trying to rebuild. Right now he still might have something to offer, and if we're just going to dump his salary for nothing, we should keep him and see what he can do. If he's useless, we can get rid of him next summer.

I can see your point, but what if his situation is actually hurting the team, and causing them to lose focus? Why not deal with the sitation now?

If they can get some talented players like Outlaw and Fernandez or something then by all means....

Bandwagon fans - please just stop. This confirms what most of us already know. Stay away from the GARM after a loss.

I'd do that trade. Marbury would fix the PG situation if he's ready to play. Artest can start at SG.

The Knicks would do it cuz it doesn't hurt their plans for 2010.

Great idea. Get it done Morey!

So you are voting no then?

No one is a bandwagon fan, this is a legitimate question, sometimes trading away a player makes the entire team better, even if that player is talented.

Do you think the players are irked at Tmac for this year? If the answer is yes, then it might make some sense.
