In the offseason, I would like to see the Rockets add two guys.
    Power Forward - Antonio McDyess
    PG/SG/SF- Penny Hardaway
With the addition of McDyess (healthy hopefully), you get a solid big man (for low cost) , Cato goes back to being a solid backup center and you improve your front line. Penny would give you a 6"7 multiple position guy that could play with Steve or Cuttino in the backcourt and relieve Jimmy of some of his minutes. Both guys have an injury history but both could also help a ballclub. Those would not be break the bank moves. See what a healthy Marcus Camby did for Denver.

If they could both stay healthy, they would both be great additions to the team if we decide not to do any major trades. What is Penny's status, is he a free agent?

You want the Rockets to repeat their mistakes of the past . We want big changes to this team . Francis and Yao are not on the same page, Francis needs a chance to show his game on another team.

can we also add Grant Hill, Stackhouse, and LaFrenz ?!?

Just joking in the post above:

I actually think Penny or a player like Penny would be great for this team...

Penny, barring his health of course, make Steve a better player... If can be half the playermaker minus the score he once was, and able to put up a decent effort in guarding small forward. You can keep Steve and JJ in the backcourt... both JJ and SF can play as 2s that focus on scoring and they both are great rebounders for their positions... With Penny running the team, I would be easier for Penny too... You have the three options of set-up SF you can spot-up, slash, or the alley, JJ for the spot-up, mid-range, or post-up, or Yao posting-up or the Two-man game with Penny...last option is Mo for the same role as Yao... Penny would be great for the Rox.. Again I repeat BARRING his health. and at a better contact.

While we're at it, let's use the TE to trade for Zo. Throw in a case of Bud and you can get Baker too.

    Zo/Yao/Cato
    McDyess/Baker/Spoon
    MoTay/Boki/Griff
    JJ/MObes/Pike
    Francis/MJax/Wilks

GJ. I think we could miss the playoffs again with that bunch. But they have potential if they stay healthy.

Sign McDyess to the veterans minimum and add a bunch of incentive clauses to the contract including games played and rebound stats.

Sign Scot Pollard to a minimum contract.

    Sign B.Barry to the MLE

Trade Cato to an Eastern Conference team and pick up a SF.

I don't think you can get fair trade value for SteveF. so why get rid of him. McGrady is just playing the game to get his contract renewed in my opinion.

Taylor is our only offensive threat coming off the bench so you either can't get rid of him or you must get better value for him.

With these additions you fill a bunch of needs, PF and a quality 3rd guard who can play both roles PG and SG. Pollard gives you a blue collar work ethic and can be Yao's backup.

Cato being a big man with the trade exception should be able to get you a quality SF, preferably with Indiana and pull one of their young guns over here ala Harrington or Bender.

why do we want old injured guys. IF this team dont make major moves it will get left behind, bank on it. NUggets, and Portland will be better. ANd so will yes the utah jazz with all them draft pics they got.

If Dice's knees are healthy he'll cost the MLE IMO.

Pollard has a ridiculous contract Indy would kill to dump. Speaking of SP, did you see him get time in the play offs? perhaps there is a reason?
