    Frank Bush Fired

Not that this was ever in doubt, but it is official now per Adam Schefter's twitter:

Now comes time for coordinator moves, too: Houston fired its defensive coordintor Frank Bush.

well that guarantees Kubiak is keeping his job. Why fire the coordinator if you are firing he head coach. FML

I can't believe McNair is holding out some ridiculous hope that members of that staff might be retained by the new coordinator and save him money.

The entire staff has to go. Gibbs should have been gone at the break, but I guess daddy put in enough phone calls.

My thoughts exactly. If they were seriously considering firing Kubiak, they probably wouldn't have announced the DC firing separately.

    Bingo.

And Gibbs, too. What a freaking disaster.

Just wait until next year. McNair and Kubiak are staking their future on the offense continuing at a high level. Say the downward trend continues and next year it's the offense that goes into reverse. What do you suppose McNair will have to say to Bob Allen then?

That Kubiak did a fantastic job with the defense and he deserves to stay on so that they aren't set back for 2 years with a coaching change. He'll then fire Rick Dennison and bring back Chris Palmer.

Obviously McNair is hanging his hat on Kubiaks offense, and if the O has a terrible year next year then Kubiak will probably go then.

Changing D cordinators is a obvious change, but I think fans get ahead of themselves when we talk about a Head coaching change. Yes a new head coach would bring in a new DC, but he would also bring in a new offense. Foster is perfect for the zone blocking system, but we dont know how he would be in a more traditional running attack. If we changed coaches and our offense dropped to the middle of the pack, we might be screaming for more changes next year.

Why should they fire the HC? He's taken us from 6-10 to 6-10 in only 4 years.

These things take time. We're on the right track.

I'm surprised Mcnair had the balls to do it.

Last time I checked, points matter more than yards and we have been 12, 17, 10, and 9 in points over the last 4 years. That's not bad, but it's also not elite and should not be enough to spare Kubiak despite the fact that we put up a lot of yards. Those rankings tell me that we have good players on offense that can get up the field, but we have horrible play-calling when it means the most and the defense has buckled down with a short field (inside the red zone).

Add that to the fact that we routinely don't show up for halves of football games, and we are not a good enough offense to warrant Kubiak staying.

Right now I feel like our ceiling with Kubiak is about 10 wins and if we're lucky, a playoff win. I don't want to settle for that. I'd rather blow up the whole scheme, suck for two years, and have a system in place that can win 12 games any given year and be a true contender.

Whatever. A decent OC or HC would find a way to work with Schaub/Andre/Foster/etc. without missing a beat. And maybe we could actually have an o-line that could protect the qb better instead of drafting these ZBS players that are horrible against the pass rush.

Yes, Gary Kubiak is the only coach on the planet capable of running an offense with 3 current and 2 former Pro Bowlers.

How is it that this offensive genius had the 2010 rushing champion, yet was still only able to be the 7th highest rushing offense in the league?
