Adam Sandler to star with Tom Cruise? By Tim Briscoe When it was first announced, the pairing of Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson for Anger Management seemed an odd match. But there was nothing odd about the film's $130 million take at the box office. Now it appears Sandler will share the marquee with none other than Tom Cruise. Both actors are in talks to star in Michael Mann's movie Collateral. The film is the tale of a hitman (Cruise) who hijacks a taxi and forces the cabbie (Sandler) to drive him to his "appointments". We can only assume this will be a more dramatic and action-filled role for Sandler, like Bulletproof. Writer-director Michael Mann is best known for the Oscar-nominated The Insider as well as Heat and TV's "Miami Vice".
I could see this working. I don't see Tom cruise as a mob guy. But He can pull off anything. I can easily see Adam Sandler as the cabby.
It is not going to be a comedy. It is going to be an action drama. Probably pretty intense too as Michael Mann is known for intense action/drama movies.
It just sounds like a comedy because the concept is silly. I think you'd have to be a pretty stupid hitman to take the same cab to each of your hits.
