Actor Sean Penn's Car Stolen in Broad Daylight

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Actor Sean Penn's car -- with two guns in it -- was stolen in broad daylight as he had lunch on a busy street just a block from the campus of the University of California at Berkeley, police said on Thursday.

"It was quite bold, being broad daylight," said police spokeswoman Mary Kusmiss of the theft that took place on Tuesday. "It is a dense commercial district, there were people walking around, driving, there are quite a number of banks around there, so people are doing business, so it is quite unusual."

Penn, 42, who lives just north of San Francisco, was driving a black 1987 Buick Grand National, a collector's favorite. The thief also made off with two guns in the car that Penn had a permit to keep, a handgun and a Smith and Wesson revolver.

Police have not recovered the car, Kusmiss said.

The intense actor has starred in films such as "I Am Sam," "Dead Man Walking" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High.":D

What's Sean Penn need two guns in his car for? Maybe Michael Moore should look into that.

Moore probably already has a few guns, he's been a life long member of the NRA since he was a kid. He was also a champion sharp shooter. I don't think there's a state that allows you to carry concealed rifles though, if that's even possible.

I visited San Francisco for a couple of days several years ago and can personally assure Sean Penn that there are no car thieves in the city.

We can all breathe a little easier now.

Sean Penn got his car back - but not the guns that were inside.
