The $35 dollar 3 day passes went on sale this morning and sold out in 37 freakin minutes. This will be the first time that I haven't gotten them at that price. Kind of a bummer this morning. For those of you that haven't been, it's one of the greatest music festivals in the nation and certainly the best any where in the region. 3 days, 130+ bands, Austin. What else can you ask for? It's like Bonneroo without the camping or the 8 hour wait to get into town.

Still, there will be a second round of tickets probably sometime in the next 2 months. Typically, those will go for $45, which is still an unbelievable steal.

Edit: It seems that either they released more tickets or there was a glitch in the system. I went back just in case and was able to purchase my 2 tickets. Woohoo! 4 years, only $135 total paid for tickets.

They're not finished releasing those tickets, I'd bet.

I went to ACL the first year.. it wasn't crowded then, good bands too.. now it's way overcrowded, even for zilker park, and they've only had one or two bands I've wanted to see since the first year when they had at least five or six..

The nasty hot weather killed it for me last year ~ they really need to push it back 3-4 weeks.

Apparently they tried. Between UT football and a myriad of other things, there was no way to push it back. Besides, mid to late Oct could be just as cold as late Sept is hot. Also, many bands stop touring by October and it would have made it harder to get the acts they wanted.

The weather didn't bother me that much. You find shade when you can and stay hydrated and covered in sun block.

Did you happen to get an extra? Or did anyone else for that matter? I was online at the exact time that you posted the edit (10:06) and it allowed me to go all the way through the transaction on Front Gate Tickets only to get to the confirmation screen where I was told it was sold out. Ahhh!!!

I went the first 2 years but decided to bag last year because the same bands keep coming back.

    Pat Green
    G. Love and Special Sauce
    Ben Harper
    Jack Johnson
    String Cheese Incident

Give me some new bands and I'll show up. I agree with the crowds being alot more tame the first year. Even the second year with REM was manageable.

String Cheese wasn't there last year. They were replaced with Trey Anastasio. There is a tendency to bring back some repeatedly but there was so much new last year that it was easy to avoid the repeats. I can do without G Love and Jack Johnson again.

The crowds are getting crazy. There was a lot of fake arm bands, fence jumpers and security (for good and bad) is basically non existent.

It took a couple of tries but I eventually got through. Friends of mine in Spring got through on the same deal. In the back of my mind I wonder if it wasn't some kind of hoax. I do have a receipt and order #. Maybe I should check to see if my credit card has been maxed...
