Anyone in austin going to ACL fest this wknd???? Doesnt sound like rain will be a huge problem here but rumor I have heard is that at 630 ACL will make an announcement that Coldplay and Oasis....maybe just one of them cancelled and will not show.....any thoughts?
seeing how they're postponing their concerts was cynthia woods, most likely they'll postpone these too.
is it postponing or cancelling? i've been waiting for these concerts forever and there'd be atleast a little good news if they were planning on coming back here at some point of their tour.
i bought tickets to coldplay way back when and i checked cynthia woods' website and, as of last night, all the concerts this weekend have been 'postponed'. i'd be really disappointed if it's cancelled but under the circumstances, i think i'll live.
I have a ticket for the ACL just sitting here... I don't think I'll be using it. I'm still in Houston and don't think I'll be heading to Austin. On a side note, I have some friends that left Houston earlier today, they took back roads to La Grange and made it to 71 and are probably in Austin already. I should've caravaned with them...
agreed, having everyone safe is more important. i thought for sure it'd be cancelled but postponed sounds better. i'd still shocked if either of them came back here, to the middle of the country, before heading home.
ACL Changes! No word on Coldplay or Oasis http://aclfestival.com/festival/changes.asp Kate Earl (replacing Kate York) Dan Dyer (replacing The Massacoustics) The Double (replacing The Ditty Bops) The Iguanas (replacing Mindy Smith) J.T. no, no, i'm in my apartment in the montrose. didn't even attempt to go to austin. i will miss the acl festival this year. i even have a ticket sitting right here. but i did have friends who took back roads to la grange and made it to austin.

You should overnight your wristband and have someone sell it ~ at least you would get your money back. edit: that probably wouldn't work - would it...
I have no idea, i just know they took back roads along I-10 till they crossed I-10 and in to La Grange...
I took 1093 to Eagle Lake, 90-A to Halletsville, 77 to Schulemburg and up to LaGrange. You could probably also go 90-A to 95 in Shiner or 183 in Gonzales.
I was able to reach Austin in 2 hours flat, after leaving on 3pm Friday. I took I-10 and 71. Ironically it was the fastest I've ever reached Austin, as there as literally no one on the road. As for the ACL festival itself, Friday was a forgettable day. With the exception of Keane, it was a bore. Black Crowes sucked it up as usual. They gotta do something about the crowd control. It took me 1 hour standing in line to get back onto the shuttle bus on the end of the day. I heard the taxi line was backed up 1.5 hours. I'm sure Sat and Sunday will be better days as long its not raining.
