i had two seperate emails trying to get the $50 tickets and missed out.

this will be the first year i miss acl - my band will be on tour and we will be in the bay area that weekend (which im sure will be more fun anyway)

i heard a totally unsubstantiated rumor that springsteen might be playing this year.

I didn't receive any of the earlier notices. Last year I think we paid around 90. :(

Where did you hear the Boss rumors?

I think I'm going to skip ACL this year after going the past few years. SXSW festival kind of ruined all other musical festivals out there for me.

I think the main problem I have with ACL is the sheer number of people who attend. Its hard to see the stage for alot of shows.

And you didn't pass that opportunity on to one of your Austin BBS brothers?!!

I am very disappointed in you RM95.

The only show last year that I had problems getting close to the stage was Willie Nelson. For every other show I was easily within 50-75 yards.

Ya me too. I was about 10 yards away from the Flaming Lips and probably 25 yards away from Tom Petty. You just have to pick and choose who you want to see up close and get their early, you might have to skip another show however.

Running backs always did have the highest chance of ACL injury :(.

passed on tickets this year... dont really have a desire to go, but the white stripes and bruce springsteen could change that. last year sucked, imo... outside of kings of leon, ranconteurs, and thievery corp.

I don't see who's playing this year. They're selling tickets before the lineup's announced??

I guess you're not a Tom Petty or Van Morrison fan?

Does ACL sellout like Coachella?? I'm starting graduate school in Colorado in August and really want to go to ACL. If I buy the two tickets now, will I be able to sell the tickets easily enough if I can't make it??

that van morrison set was godamned AWFUL. maybe i would've liked it as a concert by itself, but after a long, long day of drinking and baking in the sun the last thing i needed was van playing absolute snoozers one after another.... although he started promising enough.

i was so far back for petty i couldn't hear a thing. when the weather started getting nasty, i bolted.

worst ACL i've seen, musically speaking.

dang - van was one of the best things i saw - i wasnt really familiar w/ his work at the time and only recognized about 25% of his set, but i was blown away. check out an album called "astrel weeks" - if you are into nick drake at all this will amaze you.

peleincubus - yes, massive attack was THE best thing i saw all weekend.

one of my friends is a very reliable source, but again, he didnt say it was set in stone (yet) - heard some other jam bands too, but i cant remember which ones.

i saw a website that linked to a bunch of band websites and myspace pages that had them listed - ill see if i can find it.

    EDIT: http://www.austin360.com/blogs/cont...es/2007/04/10/who_will_headline_acl_fest.html

for the record, i think michael corcoran is a chump, but i dont see reason to doubt his story. he accused the stooges of using "backing bass tracks" during sxsw, which iggy and mike watt both laughed off. and when i first moved to austin in 95 he put out an article called "the 25 albums that killed rock and roll", which were the beatles - abbey road, pink floyd - darkside of the moon, zeppelin - houses of the holy among others - ive always hated him since then. :p
