...has the sorriest Rockets gear I have ever seen. Stuff looks like it is from the 80's. I went there to buy my dad a new t shirt and had to leave empty handed. That is sad when a sporting good store in the city don't carry nice home team stuff.
Word. Academy sucks, especiallly here in Austin. Aside from Longhorn and Aggie gear, there's absolutely nothing else. I had to buy my Rockets stuff from Amazon.
I wish there was a sports authority closer to me. The galleria one is not far but it is suicide driving there after work.
i went to the one of beltway 8 and spencer and they mainly had only a couple of shirts for youth sizs......not cool
ya, Academy has the worst team stuff anywhere, i got my boki nachbar jersey from the internet, couldn't get it anywhere else. lol
45 and West road could be your problem....u got to get out of the hood to shop for tight shiznit. I'm from aldine too but I can only say that the Woodlands has the best selection around this area.
Usually the shoe places have better stuff, Footlocker, Footaction, Champs etc. A friend of mine bought me 2 Rockets shirts today, and I'm guessing they are from Academy because I recognize the designs they have there. Plus its the only likely place she would have gone. But hey, free Rockets shirts, I am not complaining, I just thanked her.
on my way to pick up a couple of shirts right now for Games 1 & 2... Academy off of Highway 6 and Westheimer.
HAhaha.. maybe they need a new operations manager... or some better forecasting. That's funny though.. they have definitely NOT done their research.
is it just me or has Academy DECREASED their stock of Rockets stuff in the past few months. i swear just like a year ago, they had stuff that was awesome, now they like to have more than 5 different hats, hell your better off going to Ross or Marshalls for great bargains on Rockets stuff. I just go on Ebay or the clearance section at the Toyota Center minus the Bonzi jersey.
I couldnt agree more with this thread, this has become a great annoyance in my life. The only places I have found decent gear (in person; theres plenty of stuff online) is Champs Sports in the mall. Good Luck, I have no clue why it's so tough to find a normal team t-shirt these days. I'm glad I'm not the only person sick of being pushed towards team jerseys, hip hop styled (and sized shirts), outdated gear, or unbelievably expense retro stuff.
i went to Academy on Shepard and 59. talk about sh!tty. it was basically one rack of various t-shirts and jerseys and not very good ones.
i was looking for a Rockets shirt for my older son...we went to Academy...there was nothing. we were at Kohl's buying sandals for my 2 year old...and came across a great Addidas t-shirt...black...with a big picture of McGrady with a determined look on his face like he had when he dunked on Bradley in the playoffs. he wore it to school and one of his friends offered him his Yao and McGrady jerseys in a trade for the shirt!
I mean if you want texans, astros or longhorn stuff this is the place to go. But Rockets stuff there is garbage.
