What would you guys think of adding AC as a backup PF and possibly as a 3rd center for a smaller lineup? He would come very cheaply (probably 1.5 mil or so) and would be a great role model for some of our younger guys. He would essentially be the anti-Mo. Won't ask for touches, rebounds and plays tough D. I know he is about 85 years old, but I have always admired his durability & character. I know we already have KT & hopefully Mo-T, but I think AC may be a nice addition.
You're right, he does have durability and character. Like the Everready Bunny he just keeps going.......... That being said, I think he is too far past his prime to offset the above qualities he brings, despite his low cost. I think we'll have enough trouble sorting out who fills roster spots. On second thought, maybe Cato could be assigned to him as a "project." If he were successful, now that would be worth it!!
I called for AC about this time last year and 'bout got run off. But I'm with you: he is an excellent role model and can still grab rebounds and score a bit. Wouldn't we all like to have 12-15 minutes per game of THAT kind of contribution? Another alternative I called for last year was Otis Thorpe; someone posted him here just the other day. What's up with him? Is he a bad actor? Someone insinuated that he was eagerly sent away from here and he has really bounced around his whole career. He always seemed to me like a hard-working guy who did the dirty work well and kept his mouth shut, but his career seems to indicate otherwise. He must have played for 8 teams or so. ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. Because someday you will have been all of these."
AC isn't a bad idea and if we deal Walt maybe he could provide that vet chemistry. ------------------
He could teach the young guys the fundamentals......of abstinence. Not to mention about the 1001 ways to spank the monkey. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
I don't think AC has the speed that this bunch of young legs has. If the kids need veteran presence, I think the Dream can give em' that.If he sign in with the Rockets. ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
