Seen this likening between the Bush administration and Fascism in some form or fashion before on this board. The author is cashing in rhetorically on the brutality of known and professed fascist dictators, but then exploiting a technical enough definition of fascism to damn Bush with characteristics that could actually plausibly be associated with any Presidency since FDR, or maybe even Wilson or Lincoln. 8) If LBJ collaborated with the Southern Christian Leadership Council (or its Jesus freak founder) on civil rights, is that a fascist example of religion and government intertwining? How about the Union army playing the Battle Hymn of the Republic? 11) Cutting federal funding for arts in the midst of a(n) (admittedly self-created) budget deficit is fascist? I guess as long as conservatives call liberals communists & traitors (and Confederates heroes) I can't really complain.
