1) Do you gain weight by the faster you eat or slower you eat? 2) Do you gain weight if you eat after 6? 3) Do you gain weight if you eat right before you go to sleep? 4) What type of diet? Need tips on gaining weight, thanks.
this board must be overrun with guys who are 120 pounds soaking wet.. seems like there's a "i need to bulk up" thread every other day..
1) Eating slower allows for the signals to be sent to your brain that you're satiated, therefor preventing you from overeating, plus it keeps you from having indigestion. It has almost no effect on how calories are absorbed. 2) No. A calorie is a calorie. No matter when you eat it. Eating late at night isnt advised for three reasons though. First off, it may keep you awake if its something with caffiene or a high glycemic index. Two, you won't disgest it as efficiently as if you were awake. And three, because of point number two you may be tempted to skip breakfast if you still feel full when you wake up. 3) See #2 4) Try eating calorie dense things like Cytogainer protein shakes and MetRX bars. Smoothie king makes a shake called "the hulk" that has something like over 1000 calories in it too. All of it tastes good. You need to start lifting though, otherwise your "new weight" will just be new fat.
i think people complicate things...the way i see it: calories in > calories out = weight gain calories out > calories in = weight loss or am i the one who is just simplifying things
care to elaborate? last I checked there wasnt a food that magically turned into muscle when you ate it. if you take in lots of calories and exercise\weight-train, that adds muscle if you take in lots of calories and do nothing, that adds fat. it really is that simple
sure, but as long as you're lifting weights you're gonna gain muscle, whether you eat fried chicken or grilled chicken.
I believe we all have an idea on what we should and should not eat. Here is how I maintain my 39 year-old hot 6'1" 185lbs of lean drilling power. I wake up at 7am and eat a bowl of cereal. A few hours later I eat a banana. At lunch time I go to the local gym at work and do a modest workout. Either I run for 30 minutes and do crunches or I bike for 20 minutes and do weights. This is 5 days a week, if I can. Upon returning to my office I eat a light lunch with a container of cottage cheese. 2 hours later, I eat an apple. 2 hours later, I eat a snack. Usually of the sugar variety (cookies) At dinner (usually around 8pm), I eat a modest dinner (at least 1.5 servings). I have eaten countless times at 10pm. On the weekends, I eat whatever I want. The key is that I space out my meals. I never eat to much during the week in a sitting and now I don't worry about my weight. rinse and repeat. btw... This time last year I weighed over 220 lbs. I had high cholesterol, high anxiety, I drank too much, I never ate breakfast, I loaded myself at dinner time.
btw... For those that want to know a good cottage cheese, here it is. Trust me. I could eat this as a dinner by itself. It doesn't have that aftertaste and coating like other brands.
Guilty Like you mentioned earlier, eating this type of junk can affect your sleep. Whenever I ate Taco Bell, I would wake up in the middle of the night and my stomach would be on fire and my heart would be racing like mug.
If you want to gain fat, it is very easy. Easy more french fries or other fried items and you will be fat in no time. But if you want to build muscle, then it is not easy.
Word. This is what I'm looking "forward" to. I love complaining about not being able to gain a single pound while I eat the worst foods imaginable. Amazingly my cholesterol is just fine. It's all about genetics and metabolism I figure.
Drink lots of beer, wine and whiskey. Eat pizza, tacos, steak, bacon, pork chops, sausage, Ribs, queso, and chili regularly. Always have seconds. Eat before you go to bed. Eat cheese and crackers for snacks instead of fruit and vegetables. When you do have vegetables with a meal be sure they're slathered in butter or cooked in a cream sauce. Works great. Been doing it for years. Works so well, that even though I exercise regularly, I still don't lose weight. Cheers and you're welcome.
