I know Ray Comfort, should be interesting so I thought I would post the info- Actor Kirk Cameron and best-selling author Ray Comfort will square off with two atheists in New York on Saturday, May 5. ABC originally planned to stream the 90-minute debate LIVE on their website, but decided to reschedule the broadcast to capture a larger audience. They will broadcast the entire debate on ABC.com on Wednesday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. EST. The debate will be moderated by Martin Bashir, and on May 9 a shortened version of the debate will be aired on Nightline also on Wednesday 9th. Comfort -- who claims he can prove the existence of God, scientifically, without mentioning faith or the Bible -- stated, "The network originally offered me only four minutes to present my case. After speaking with Kirk and conferring with the atheists, they settled on 13 minutes. I'm ecstatic. I can prove the existence of God in that amount of time. "We are very grateful to ABC for taking this courageous step," Comfort continued. "As far as we know, nothing like this has ever been done before. ABC's website is already the 7th most visited news site, with 19 million visitors every month. But with more than 177 million people in the U.S. who call themselves Christians, we are sure that it will draw an even larger viewing audience. Is there actually evidence for God? That's the most important question any of us will ever consider." Cameron added, "We are excited that the network has decided to do this, because we have something very relevant to present. Most people think that belief in God is simply a matter of blind faith, and that His existence can't be proven. We will not only prove that God exists, but as an ex-atheist I'll show that the issue keeping so many people from believing in God -- Darwinian evolution -- is completely unscientific. It's a fairy-tale for grownups." The debate came about after ABC ran a story in January about hundreds of atheists videotaping themselves blaspheming the Holy Spirit. "But," Comfort continued, "there is something more sinister here than a few people not believing in God. Why would so many be so bitter against Christianity in particular? Why aren't they making videos that blaspheme Buddha or Mohammed or Ghandi? We made our own video clip and posted it on www.Hollywoodblasphemy.com to expose why. As of May 2 there is still an opportunity for people to join in the debate, by submitting questions that will be passed on to the panelists. ABC will limit the live audience to 100 people, evenly divided between atheists and believers. i have a hard time with this approach, rhester. i've seen cameron and an australian guy (don't know if that's this guy) arguing with people about God on the streets while flipping channels at home. they argue back and forth. and no one gets closer to God as best I can tell. the best evidence of God can't be found in an argument. i don't wanna limit God. but i think these things turn out to be contests regarding who is more clever.
how is 2pm going to capture a greater audience?? I would like to see this I wish they would show something like this on tv.
Understand, I met Ray in 1988 and spent some time with him, last I talked to him was 1990. He was a street preacher back then (Whitefield type)- Very humble man who never argued with anyone. I saw him preach to lots of people and take lots of abuse. But I guess people change. I would be surprised if he argued with someone but then nothing should surprise me anymore. His ministry for years was set up in the slums of LA. He took a nurse out every weekend to patch up people who were wounded, while he handed out food and then preached on top of a crate. He wrote a book about his experiences called "My Friends Are Dying". He had so much compassion for gang bangers and prostitutes I was affected by his stories. Lot's of close calls with guns and knives etc. He was going to places the police ignored or avoided back in the day. If you saw him recently arguing on Christian TV, I can understand, I don't watch Christian TV. Guess I should try to contact him and see what's happening.
What if Kirk Cameron is the one to actually prove there is a god? Nobody would have seen that one coming.
MadMax- I am sure that was Ray Comfort- he's a New Zealander. Doesn't sound like the same Ray I knew, Ray led hundreds of people to the grace and forgiveness of Christ the times he came to Texas. I have seen that man shed many a tear praying for people to know Jesus. Oh well.....
It's my understanding that Cameron was on TV, but I don't watch much of any TV except Rockets, Texans, Astros and some of 24, so I heard about Growing Pain but have no idea what that is.
like avoiding watching lawyer movies, i avoid watching Christian TV like it's the plague. but i've seen it while flipping channels. maybe i misjudged. that's awesome that he was so compassionate and loving.

back in the 80's, Growing Pains was a pretty popular family TV sitcom. he was pretty popular and i'd say was regarded as a bit of a teen idol at the time.
But I should check up things... That book is really good and it started me thinking more about getting outside the walls of the church more... He was pretty different back then, he would go to places like the church of satan and ask them to talk about God, but with a humble heart. I know he used to go around and put bags of groceries on people's doorstep in poor neighborhoods with a invitation to church in the bag, but no name. He did that out of his own pocket for his church. So I hope he hasn't turned into beat people up type..... I guess I will try to watch nightline that night, later and GO ROCKETS
Yeah...I'm not sure he was beating anyone up over it. Just seemed to be engaging debate on the streets regarding God. I'm not saying he's evil or bad...I just prefer a different approach. I think you have to earn the right to be heard. Go Rockets, indeed!!!
I really hope they don't talk about bananas... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9zwbhAXe5yk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9zwbhAXe5yk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Achilleus -- i know it sounds silly to a lot of people. but i love that banana thing. because it's someone seeking God in the mundane. in something that we look over every day and never ascribe any significance to. and yet, we have this great snack in a pouch growing on trees. i'm not suggesting that's life-changing or earth-shattering for anyone. i'm not suggesting he should go on tour with that material. i'm not even sure it merits TV time. but i like it.
No fair Achilleus! I was going to bring up the "science" of the bannana. Max - you are not wrong, "The Way of the Master" with Cameron and Comfort is all about how to challenge "non-believers" with their tactics. How you can beat them all in any religious argument, etc. Every show has street interviews/discussions with people who usually (the 10 or more times I have seen the show) just say they don't know what they believe. I did see one guy who said he was an atheist but he clearly was an idiot and even said himself he didn't know why he was and didn't know anything about Christianity (he was not foreign or anything, either). TWOTM is a good show, though, so I will always watch it if I see it.
